RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS)
On Sunday, December 8, 2019, we celebrated the Rite of Acceptance with our inquirers as they became catechumens and candidates. Each week at the 9:00AM Mass they will be dismissed after the Homily, in order to further break open the word of God proclaimed in the assembly. During this time, they reflect together, with the guidance and support of the catechetical team, on the lectionary. The catechumens and candidates serve as witnesses of God’s unfailing love and continued call to renewal for all of us. Please keep them in your prayers. MASS AT OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS, ALTA, UTAH The celebration of the Eucharist on Sundays resumed at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel at Alta, Utah Sunday, December 1st. Mass is at 5:00PM. The chapel is located directly across from the Alta Lodge and below the Alta City offices. Mass will continue throughout the ski season ending the end of April. Mass on Christmas and Easter will be at 10:00AM. Please join us for mass after a day of recreation in the Little Cottonwood Canyon.

SACRAMENT PREPARATION
CONFIRMATION
The next session for Confirmation Candidates will be on Sunday, January 26 at 1-3PM in the Benvegnu Center. FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNION Parents and children are working together preparing for the sacraments. Their next session will be the parent and child retreat on January 12, 2020 at 1:30PM in the Benvegnu Center. FAITH FORMATION
All children Pre-K thru 8th grade who do not attend a Catholic school should attend Sunday Faith Formation classes. This is an opportunity to learn more about their Catholic faith, form relationships with other Catholic families, and prepare to re-ceive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. All children are welcome and encouraged to participate, including those with special challenges or circumstances.
MONSIGNOR BENVEGNU LECTURES
Lectures will take place in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, at 7:00PM on Monday evenings.
Jan. 6: What Is Christian Spirituality? Msgr. M. Francis Mannion, Pastor Emeritus, St. Vincent de Paul Parish There has never been so many books, retreats, and seminars on spiritu-ality as there are today. This lecture will set forth an analysis of lay spir-ituality and offer a critique of various trends in this area. It will examine the varied spiritualties of Catholicism and suggest relevant resources and books.
The parish office will be closed December 24th at noon through December 26th.

SOLEMNITY OF MARY Wednesday, January 1, 2020, Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God, is a holy day of obligation in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. The Bishop, cognizant of the importance of our Blessed Mother in the Church and in the faith life of the people of God, has declared that starting next year in 2020 and thenceforth, the Solemn Feast of Mary, the Mother of God, will be observed as a holy day of Obligation in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Saint Vincent de Paul Parish will be celebrating mass on January 1st at 9:00AM and 7:00PM.

UPCOMING PRO-LIFE EVENTS
The annual bilingual Rosary for Life will be Sunday, Jan. 19 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 275 U St., SLC. Meet at 2:00PM at the Monument to the Unborn. Outlying parishes are encouraged to have their own rosary at the same time. The homebound are asked to join in prayer at that time.
Bishop Solis will celebrate a Mass for the Unborn on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6:00PM in the Cathedral of the Madeleine. This will be in English, Spanish, and sign language interpreted. All are welcome.
Saturday, Feb. 1 will be the annual Respect for the Dignity of Life Day, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in West Jordan. Jean Hill will teach advocacy skills to enable participants to advocate for pro-life legislation from a Catholic perspective.
