7:45 - 8:35 a.m. FIBRIN TISSUE ADHESIVE: AN ALTERNATIVE TO SUTURES. HOW TO USE IT IN THE OR • Stephen Kaufman, MD, PhD Fibrin tissue glue can be used instead of sutures. This course will present different uses for fibrin tissue glue including how to prepare the glue, pterygium surgery, with amniotic membrane, with epithelial ingrowth removal after LASIK, and corneal surface reconstruction with conjunctiva and amniotic membrane. Pearls, practical tips and pitfall avoidance will be discussed.

8:35 - 9:25 a.m. MEDICATION ADHERENCE IN GLAUCOMA • James Tsai, MD, MBA, FACS This course will review challenges and obstacles to medication adherence in patients with glaucoma. A reviewoftheexistingscientificliteraturewillbeconducted.Newstrategiesandtools,aswellasresources to enhance adherence will be discussed.

9:25 - 10:15 a.m. CHALLENGES IN VITREORETINAL DISEASES FOR THE OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN • Edward Lim, MD Many times the critical investigation into new patient symptoms begins with the ophthalmic technician. This course will challenge the participants with an interactive, probing style drawing on the knowledge, experience, and analytical skills of the technicians. The format is clinical case dissection in major vitreoretinal subjects.

10:30 - 11:20 a.m. EVALUATION, MANAGEMENT, AND SURGICAL TREATMENT OF THE DROOPY EYELID • Katherine Gold, MD The clinical presentation of the droopy eyelid can be varied. This lecture will cover diagnosis of pathology, how to determine the appropriate treatment, and surgical management. It will conclude with case presentation.

11:20 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. DETECTING OPTIC NERVE DISEASE • Valerie Elmalem, MD This course will discuss the examination techniques and the various testing used in detecting optic nerve disease.

1:00 - 1:50 p.m. (TECH) KNOWLODGY: THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF CLINICAL EXAMS • Marie Francis, LPN, COT, OSCThis course explores the different methods technicians have used in the past to help their patients and their doctors get the most out of interactions. Also included will be tips and tricks for the present technician to go “above and beyond” for their doctor and their patients. Additional material will cover future endeavors of technicians, their role in ophthalmology and the continued need for education.

1:50 - 2:40 p.m. CLINICAL EFFICIENCY THROUGH LEAN SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGY • Janet Hunter, COMT, BS Buildinganefficient,successfulophthalmictechnicalteamissimilartorunningafactoryassemblyline. All units need to work together seamlessly in order to produce a superior product. This course is targeted to allied health personnel (front desk and technicians) who need to develop a general awarenessofLeanSixSigmaclinicalefficiency,concepts,andtechniques.

2:40 - 3:30 p.m. NEW THOUGHTS ON AMBLYOPIA TREATMENT: THE PEDIG STUDIES • William F. Astle, MD, FRCSC, Dipl. ABOThis course will present the various new approaches to study basic amblyopia and questions that had never been studied with large scale multicenter studies.
