Semi-official Saudi media reported earlier that the two officers were shot at a checkpoint in the area, something the Saudi Press Agency did not immediately say.The shooting comes as the kingdom has faced a series of attacks by Islamic State-inspired militants.In October, a previously unheard-of Islamic State affiliate claimed an attack in the al-Qatif region targeting a Shiite mosque that killed five people and wounded nine.
