Blue Bridge“Blue Bridge has been in our family ever since my parents bought it in 1968,” says Jacqui. “It’s a wonderful family home where we spent our childhood, and our children spent many happy times and holidays with their grandparents even going swimming after school! I have to say it was the most amazing place to grow up in. All my summers were spent on the beach. My mother would see me across the road at the end of our ‘secret path’, and then she’d be able to keep an eye on me from the garden. I’d meet up with friends and we’d swim in the sea, explore the rock pools and go sailing. As a family we always had a boat moored in the harbour, and would often anchor it on the beach in front of the house, or sail round to Monkstone or towards Caldey Island, catching mackerel off the boat, and then come home and cook them on the BBQ. I have so many fond memories. It’s a truly idyllic place.”

This beautiful family home occupies a prime, elevated position within the much sought after village of Saundersfoot. It sits among a row of charming properties on the cliff top and enjoys panoramic views of the pretty seaside harbour and the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline. “The views are absolutely incredible,” continues Jacqui, “waking up in the morning to the sound of the sea, it’s like being in your own private grandstand, with the scenery constantly changing. In the winter we have the rough seas and blustery wind, and during the summer the sky is blue and there are always boats to watch in the bay. It’s magical.”

Blue Bridge was built in the 1930s, but over subsequent years has been both extended and modernised. “The house sits on one of the largest and most private plots on Frances Road,” says Jacqui, “and although it’s already a very comfortable family home, there’s definitely plenty of scope to perhaps extend and improve it further. My parents did alter the kitchen and bathroom, added an extension and patio doors in the kitchen, so it has a great layout with almost all windows facing the sea, however it also offers so much for potential for further development.” “The most magical thing about the house has to be the setting,” says Jacqui. “It’s obviously very beautiful, but it’s also an incredibly safe environment and whilst it’s close to the beach it’s still very peaceful. The village is so friendly and has everything you would need on a day-to-day basis including some excellent restaurants, and it’s all just a short walk away. My father used to stroll down the path in the morning to pick up the paper or a loaf of bread and meet up with friends on the harbour for a coffee and a chat! The village also has a lovely school, a sailing club that we were very involved with, sports facilities as well as an active community; all year round there are things going on. We also have Tenby just along the coast, which has a huge choice of restaurants and shops; we’re spoilt for choice.”

“Blue Bridge is quite simply a wonderful family home that is filled with so many happy memories,” says Jacqui. “It’s a very special place.”*
