The Gives Big to the BGCNC

This year BGCNC is pleased to bring the Torch Club program to our members. A partnership between Boys and Girls Club of America and Staples Foundation for Learning, this innovative program for Boys and Girls ages 11-13 is designed to cultivate good character and effective leadership skills through service to the community. In small leadership groups, participants work together to plan and implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation. By enriching the lives of others, students develop a moral compass and begin to understand the value of qualities such as honesty, justice, fairness and respect for self and others. These valuable skills will help members become civilly engaged and caring citizens.

The TORCH CLUB is just one of the many valuable programs offered to local children through the Boys and Girls Club of the North Country.

2015 Tee it up for Kids

Dear Community Friends and Supporters,

The past year has been a tremendous one for the Boys & Girls Club of the North Country – because of you! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. As you read this newsletter I hope you will be able to see how your investment supported more than 200 children from all over our North Country region who participated in our programs over the past year.

Because of you, we continue to help our members succeed academically, socially and physically while preparing them for great futures! With your continued support we can do even better! We are committed to our mission of providing a fun, safe and positive place for all children of the North Country under the guidance of caring adults; as well as connecting community members of all ages to the Club, providing healthy living initiatives to keep our members fit and to making sure that both fun and education are a focal point of all our activities.

Our progress continues to be encouraging but our work is far from over. We want to be able to reach more kids. There are many more kids in the North Country region that need to be introduced to the BGCNC so they can start their great futures. They can’t wait. Our community can’t wait. With your generous help and support we can continue to ensure that every child who enters the doors of our Club leaves with the skills necessary to be a valuable member of our community.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ERIC FRYDMAN...

For over a decade, Ninety Nine Restaurants have shown a company-wide commitment and “A Passion to Serve” in the communities in which they do business. The month of October is designated Boys & Girls Club Month at all 99 Restaurants. Local restaurants and their team members are encouraged to give back to those less fortunate in the community. Efforts included offering special menu items, a raffle, bake sale, pancake breakfast and more. With their events they raised $15,804 to help offset our operating expenses! Andrea Way, Assistant Manager, credits the servers for their “outstanding enthusiasm and commitment” and offered a special thank you to bartenders, Aaren and Mel, who together raised over $5,000!

Boys & Girls Club celebrates community at the 9th annual H.O.C. breakfast

Bethlehem, NH – On October 22, 2015, The Boys & Girls Club of the North Country welcomed over 100 guests to Maplewood Country Club for their ninth annual Heart of the Community breakfast – a thank you to businesses and the community for their ongoing support. Attendees enjoyed a buffet of Pete & Gerry’s Organic eggs, pancakes with syrup by Fadden’s General Store, Boston Coffee Cake donated by The Littleton Food Coop, as well as maple candy treats by Maple Grove Farms. The event was underwritten by Mascoma Savings Bank, The Rowley Agency and Peabody & Smith Realty.

This year, presenter Katie Merrow, Vice President of Community Impact at the NH Charitable Foundation, spoke on the importance of supporting community service partners. Littleton Police Captain, Chris Tyler, discussed the valuable work the Club is doing to keep local kids active and out of trouble. Past club member, Sydney Lambert, an 11th grader at Lisbon Regional

School, delivered an inspirational speech on how impactful the Club was for her in building her confidence. The breakfast finale featured a special dance presentation by club members.

Littleton Coin receives Community Partner Award New this year, was the first annual Community Partner Award, honoring a business or individual who has gone above and beyond in their support. John Hennessey, Senior Vice President of Littleton Coin Company, accepted the award and spoke about how the BGCNC is a valuable resource to his employees and the community.

Who supports us... Why does national retailer Littleton Coin Company choose to support the Boys and Girls Club of the North

Country year after year? The answer is multi-faceted according to Ed Hennessey, the company’s CFO. “Helping BGCNC not only helps the community today, by providing quality after school and vacation camp programs for many local families, but it also helps ensure future success for the area as a whole. The stellar programs offered at the Club encourage learning, help instill values and build confidence in the children they serve. These traits are the keys to success for future residents, leaders and employees. By supporting these efforts, we’re investing in the future of our business, our community and the region as a whole. We are happy to continue to support the BGCNC and their important programs.” For more information on how your business can take part in ensuring the successful future of our community and its kids, contact Eric Frydman at 603-838-5954

New Kitchen & Nutrition Program

Help us complete our commercial grade kitchen! We’re creating a great new space to teach kids valuable life skills and help staff facilitate healthy nutrition programs. We’ve received some appliance and construction grants, but opportunities still exist for donations of funds and supply items.

Consider a gift of:

$5,000 for large appliances.

$1,500 for shelving, small appliances and supplies.

In kind donations: restaurant equipment, dishes and utensils.

Donate your Shaw’s Cuisinart Stamps by dropping them off at the Club or mailing them to our P.O. Box 111, Littleton, NH 03561

4 Great reasons to support the BGCNC...

1. Strengthens your community by developing future

leaders - Supporting local children now helps

improve the future of our region as participation in

BGC programs builds character and skills for the future.

2. See your donation dollars at work - 99% of all

contributions stay local.

3. Impacts local kids - Having an affordable positive

youth environment available during after-school hours,

as well as winter, spring and summer vacation camps,

makes a real difference to local children.

4. Qualified charitable giving - Donations to BGCNC

qualify as tax deductions.

Just One… “One day in the life of a child can make a huge impact on their future.

One caring adult can create an unbreakable bond with a vulnerable child that will last throughout their lifetime. One Boys and Girls Club can offer hope to an entire neighborhood.

One gift from you can open the door to a brighter tomorrow for more of our children.” Boys and Girls Club of America
