Dear friends,
Remember to mark your calendars and to join us for our annual parish BBQ picnic on Friday, August 23, 2019 at a new hour: 5:00 p.m.
We gather each year as a parish family to thank God for all His marvelous blessings through the intercession of our patroness, St. Rose of Lima, whose feast day we will celebrate on Friday, August 23rd. We also gather to say thank you for all your contributions of time, talent and treasure this past year.
Additionally, we use this annual gathering to welcome back all our school families, and especially the new families to our school and parish families.
The evening will start with Mass at 5:00 p.m., instead of 5:30pm followed by a free BBQ picnic, a brief video about some of the things that happened in our parish last year, honoring some of our special volunteers with the Golden Rose Awards, and then an outdoor family movie. So, be sure to bring your beach chairs and blankets to sit on the grass for a good old family picnic and drive-in (OK a sit-in!!) theater.
I just ask you to call the rectory so we can “guess-timate” how much food and drink to purchase. May God bless you—I certainly do!

A message from Fr. Jim
I am taking this opportunity, by using the Sunday Bulletin to thank my Parish Family for the great outpouring of birthday wishes for me. Particularly, I want to thank my brother Priests and Deacons for concelebrating the 9:00 am Mass with me on Sunday, and for the Adult Choir for giving up their summer vacation time to sing at that Mass. In addition, a grateful thank goes to the ladies who put everything together, to the Misioneros de Cristo for the beautiful decorations in the hall, for the refreshments which followed the Mass, and to all the volunteers who set up food and drinks. Finally, I want to thank everyone who gifted me with cards and/or gifts - I have been overwhelmed. I received over 75 cards and/or gifts. Initially, I began to write individual “thank you” but I got to the first twelve or so, and I had to give up. There are still over 50 to go, so I want to take this opportunity to say “thank you”, “thank you”, “thank you”. All of you will be in my daily morning prayers. Our Lord knows who you all are. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Children learn from an early age that adults are figures of authority — teachers, police officers, bus drivers, babysitters. We need our children to listen to the people who are in charge of them, but this message must be communicated so that children know it’s okay to stick up for themselves too. Adult predators may try to use their authority to gain control over their victims. Children should know that when it comes to private parts, secrets, and things that seem dangerous or wrong, they shouldn’t worry about disobeying the adult in charge, and instead talk to a trusted adult or a parent.
