For over 10 years now, Super Rod have been focused on ‘making a difference’ to many working in our industry. We have built up a huge number of testimonials, ranging from the huge financial advantages gained from working with the Super Rod system, to the grateful father who saves so much time using the product, he now has time to read a bedtime story to his young children.

When you buy a Super Rod product, you are purchasing a reliable tool, which has been built to last. We take great care to produce to a consistently high standard. To ensure that we maintain this quality, we conduct tensile tests on every batch of rods, using a tensiometer. Each batch must pass an average 200kg tensile load!

We use a highly precise swaging process to produce all of our rods. If you look at the rod end fittings you will see the indents from this process. Unlike crimping, swaging is consistent, ensuring minimum tensile loads are continually achieved. Furthermore, swaging is almost twice as strong as gluing and does not require any chemicals.

Using the tensiometer (above) we regularly test competitor products, to evaluate the performance of our range and ensure that we offer the very best quality. The graph below shows Super Rod’ product in RED. As you can see, our products are consistently within limits and comfortably exceed our 200kg average.

We test every competitors products at regular intervals throughout the year. As you can see, none even get close to Super Rod’ tensile strength. They are also extremely inconsistent, with some rods failing at as little as 5kg! On average, all competitors have a tensile strength of below 100kg.

The Inline Swivel

The Inline Swivel can be easily added to the end of your Cable Rods, to accept any twists or turns in cable during installation. This is especially important when working with data cable, as twists can damage the cable’s performance.

The Inline Swivel can also be used to join two Super Grips together; this is useful when replacing old cable with new.Simply attach a Super Grip to the old cable being replaced, then add the Inline Swivel, join another Super Grip and attach the new cable. As you pull the old cable out, the new cable is pulled in!

THE SUPER CAM V6

These products are often referred to as either Duct Rods or Cobras and are used in a wide range of environments traditionally in larger industrial installations. Super Rod has looked at this and recognised that this style of product can be adapted to suit not just the large industrial installation, but can now span across domestic, residential, commercial as well as industrial.

Considerations when choosing coiled products

When routing inside conduit you need flexibility – lots of it, yet at the same time some rigidity is important in order to overcome the friction caused by elbows and other cables. Installers frequently encounter ‘snaking’ problems when attempting to route cable at length. Our comprehensive range of coiled products start from 10 metres and go up to 300 metres with a varying range of diameters giving you the control you need to get the job done.

The choice and size of material will dictate this delicate balance. For instance nylon ‘fish tape’ is the traditional installer’s aid with the advantage of its low cost, but it suffers from a tendency to tie itself into knots, and it can be too flexible. On the other hand GRP (fibreglass) with a polypropylene coating is regarded as a near perfect material because it offers a very high flex/strength ratio, and when uncoiled there is no tendency to ‘recoil’ or kink – it is however more expensive and delicate!

Another thing to consider is the ease of handling. Good coiled products will come in a housing or case. This not only protects the material it also improves the convenience and speed of use.

The Super Cam V6 features a 17mm endoscope camera, which is perfect for inspecting cable runs, under floors, wall cavities and confined spaces.

The V6 monitor has a recording function, which allows you to document inspections, discuss tasks with clients etc. Footage can be played back through the monitor, through AV connections or sent to a computer via USB.

The Super Cam V6 includes a bracket, which allows rods and attachments from the Cable Rod range to be connected. Also included are a mirror, hook and magnet, which connect directly onto the camera head.

Viewing distances can be increased with additional extension lengths (optional). A 9mm diameter camera head is also available, which can be used to inspect smaller voids.

The V6 monitor also works with the Super Cam V5 camera, which allows you to inspect voids over longer distances, in some cases up to 30 metres!

The Cable Jack

The Cable Jack is an innovative cable spooling device. It uses your existing 44mm Cable Rod tube, along with metal collars and legs, to form an ‘A’ frame. You can use this frame as a lightweight spooler for small domestic jobs. The two metal collars slide onto the 44mm tube. You can leave them in place and slide rolls of cable over the assembly. Then, by screwing the legs into the collars, you lift the rolls off the ground allowing them to turn freely.

This is a seriously clever product. You are taking the Cable Rod tube with you onto site, so why not add in this extra functionality!
