Do’s and Don’ts of wildlife photography

Use a fast shutter speed as you will not come across animals that are sleeping or lying around. Most of the time you will see them moving quickly. With fast shutter speeds you will save time and blurry and out of focus pictures. One important rule is that your shutter speed should always be the same or higher than your focal length. When you use a zoom lens you will have to make the adjustments accordingly.

Know the animals: even when you have practiced your photography skills know your camera front and back you may still struggle with taking that perfect shot. To capture an amazing shot you have to know the animal well spend time analyzing them and studying their behavior. The more time you spend with them the more likely your images will be expressive and revealing.

When in the wild always remember that you need to respect the animal’s space, we all love wild animals, yet they can be dangerous, it is important that you are aware and respect the warning signal that they show. Try not to be hostile and remain as inconspicuous as possible so that you do not cause the animals any undue stress.

When you are photographing the animals on an expedition or a safari never try to leave and wander around. Whatever the reason be never leave a trail as it may bring you to a dangerous territory or too close to the animals.
