New Smith Meter SkidsNow Available Direct rom FMC Technologies
Smith Meter equipment, rom FMC Technologies, has long been the
standard or loading and blending ethanol or biodiesel and other
biouels. Now terminal owners and operators can have precision load
rack skids direct rom FMC. The same engineering proessionals who
design the world-renowned Smith Meter measuring equipment have
designed biouels blending skids to precise global specications.
The Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) demanding renewable
uel standards (i.e., RFS2) require stringent fuid handling and
measurement accuracy the kind o accuracy Smith Meter equipment
is known or. Your terminal operation demands properly designed and
tted skid-mounted equipment to maximize your return-on-investment.
FMC provides cost eective system integra-
tion with a fexible approach and open
architecture products such as the Smith
Meter AccuLoad preset. Using only FMC
equipment and electronics ensures custody
transer accuracy and perormance.

Ethanol or Biodiesel BlendingFMC Technologies integrated biouels blending modules meet
the needs o a convenient, turnkey solution complete with
state-o-the-art metering technology and supported with a
comprehensive load rack product portolio.
We incorporate the latest metering technology or positive
displacement and turbine meters, along with digital fow
control valves to provide optimum measurement accuracy.
Our skids integrate into existing blending-capable presets,
such as the Smith Meter AccuLoad III. These blending
presets can quickly be recongured on-site, rom straight
product loading to sidestream or ratio blend loading, resulting in highly accurate biouel blends.
At FMC Technologies, our core business is custody transer
measurement and fow control. Our expertise in custody
transer measurement, combined with our knowledge o
loading rack operating conditions, make us the best choiceor designing and building biouels blending systems or
your business. Choose FMC to build your next biouels
blending skid, already designed to meet your specic needs.
The same engineering
proessionals who design the

Typically the term ratio blending is used
where the biouel stream is mixed with
the main product stream downstreamo the main product meter. One electronic
controller device manages all fow streams.
(Illustrated is a three stream metering
system). With this blending method, the
biouel stream is considered part o the
custody transer metering. The main ad-
vantage or Ratio Blending is that all nal
components are individually and accurately
measured, thus enabling correct inventory
reconciliation. This method provides the
most accurate nal custody transer volume
inormation.
Side stream blending, an alternative to
ratio blending, is where the biouel meter
stream is mixed upstream o the main
product stream delivery meter, which
measures the total o the delivered blend
product. (Illustrated is a three stream metering
system). The volumes o each product are
derived by subtracting the secondary com-
ponent total rom the delivery total. Thesevolumes are then available or inventory
reconciliation. Thus, the accuracy o this
method is dependent on the precision o the
product meter at each individual arm. The
biouel stream must be pumped into the
main product stream at a higher pressure in
order to get the product into the main line.
This alternative method aids in the mixing
process as the blended product passes
through a meter that mechanically mixes,
or integrates the uel.
