Sogex Oman plays an important and highly responsible role in the lives of many of Oman’s population. Since 1976 we have held the contract for the complete operation, mainte-nance, commissioning and manage-ment of Ghubrah Power and Desali-nation plant which proves the total power requirement and water for Oman’s capital Muscat and the surrounding area.
This high technology service is based on a policy of continuous preventive and corrective maintenance. Faults are discovered early to save major cost and repair.
Round the clock testing in our own laboratory is carried out to maintain water quality for the steam genera-tors and turbines, as well as the highest levels of drinking water purity.
The Sohar Fertiliser ProjectThe Sohar Fertiliser Project is one of the largest industrial investments by any individual in the GCC. The fertiliser complex is in the new Sohar Industrial Port Area 250 kilometers to the North West of Muscat.
The project comprises the following manufacturing facilities:
• An ammonia plant with a production capacity of 2,000 metric tons per day.• Two granular urea plants with a combined capacity of 3,500 metric tons per day.• The related utilities and offsite facilities.
The plant use natural gas as a feedstock supplied through overland pipeline. For cooling and desalination purpose, the plants access the Seawater Intake/Outfall Facility in the Sohar Industrial Port area, itself a major facility constructed by the Suhail Bahwan Group. The product is exported
from a 260 metre dedicated berth adjacent to the plant.
With a production capacity of 3,500 metric tons per day of granular urea, this complex is one of the largest private sector Greenfield fertiliser projects in the world.
The entire project management from inception to financial close and construction supervision is being carried out by SIUCI’s own personnel, as is the subsequent operation and maintenance of the Plant.
