an'anytimeanywhere'billpaymentsystem:TheG.PadmanabhanCommitteewasformedbyRBItostudytheFeasibilityofImplementationofGIRObasedPaymentSystemsanticipatedthataround30800millionbillsamountingtomorethan600000crorerupeesarepaideachyearin20Indiancities.Note:i.BharatBillPaymentSystemisintendedfortheimplementationofaunifiedbillpaymentsystemacrossthecountry.Thisintegratedbillpaymentsystemwillcompriseoftwoentities:i.EntityoperatingatBharatBillPaymentSystem(BBPS)willbesettingupthestandardsrelatedtopayments,clearanceandsettlementprocessii.SecondentitywouldbeBharatBillPaymentOperatingUnits(BBPOUs).ItwillbecarryingouttheoperationsinadherencetothestandardsfixedbyBBPS.iii.Authorisedentitiessuchasagents,banks,serviceproviders,paymentgatewayswouldbetheparticipantsattheBharatBillPaymentSystem.

ReserveBankofIndia(RBI)recentlyissueddraftguidelinesfortwonewcategoriesofbankssmallandpaymentsandstatesthatthesecanimprovefinancialinclusion.Note:i.TheideaofpaymentsbankswasfirstproposedbytheNachiketMorcommitteeonfinancialinclusion.ii.TheminimumpaidupcapitalrequirementofbothpaymentsbanksandsmallbanksisRs.100crore.Thepaymentsbankwillhavetoinvestingovernmentsecuritieswithamaturityofuptooneyear.ImportantPoints:i.Smallbankswillofferbothdepositsaswellasloanproducts.

ThisGKCapsulehasbeenpreparedbyCareerPowerInstituteDelhi(FormerlyKnownasBankPower).ThisdocumentconsistsofallimportantnewsandeventsoflastfewmonthswhichcancomeinSBIClerkExam.
