basis to their end buyers. The UK trader decided to import steam coal from a principal
supplier from Indonesia to meet their demands. The supplier agreed to supply the required
quantity of steam coal, but they asked the UK trader to provide 30% advance payment. Since
it seems difficult for the trader to arrange for cash funds instantly, they discussed with the
supplier & mutually agreed on concluding the deal with Standby Letter of Credit – SBLC
