emergedromthechaos.Unableto
coexistpeaceully,theyspentthe
nextthousandyearsfghtingorcontrolothegalaxy.
DubbedtheInfniteWar,theconict
claimedbillionsolives.Itonly
endedwhenanevengreaterthreat
appeared,aninvasionbyanalien
racecalledtheSeraphim.Facedwith
extinction,thethreeactionsput
asidetheirdierencesandormedtheColonialDeenseCoalitionto
turnbackthealienmenace.
AtertheSeraphimweredeeated,theCoalitionbecamethegoverningbody
othegalaxy.ItsfrstactwastoteardowntheQuantumGatenetwork,the
primarymethodotravelingtoandromdistantsystems.Itwasalargely
symbolicact:byrestrictingtheabilitytomovearmiesnearlyinstantaneously
overlargedistances,itgreatlydiminishedthechancesoanotherintergalactic
war.Thecostwasgreaterisolationordistantcolonies,butmostsawthisasaperectlyreasonabletrade-o.
Becauseothisisolation,eachplanethasitsowngoverningbody,andeach
colonyhasitsowngovernorship.Theindividualactionsremaininnameand
maintaintheirownmilitaryorces,thoughtheyreallboundbyoneseto
rulinglaw.

TheUnitedEarthFederationorUEFwas
ormedwithasimplegoal:reunitethegalaxy.Itwas
largelysuccessul.
TheaverageUEFcitizendesiresstabilityandorder,andtheyhaveastrongsenseobrotherhoodand
community.Itsleadersareaggressiveanddrivento
ensuregalacticorder.
AterthedeeatotheSeraphim,theUEFassertedcontrolotheCoalition
throughitsabilitytoleverageitscitizensstrongactionalidentitytopresenta
unifedrontonallissues.Asaresult,theUEFistheeconomic,political,and
militarymachinethatdrivestheCoalition.
Ingeneral,UEFmilitaryunitsarelarger,moreaggressiveversionso
20thCenturymilitaryhardware.UEFCommandersgothroughrigorous

The Illuminate
TheSeraphimwerefrstdiscoveredduringadeep
spaceexplorationmission.Thealienspassedon
theirphilosophycalledTheWaytoDr.JaneBurke,
oneothemembersotheexpedition.Sheormed
theAeonIlluminatetospreadthewordandavoid
whatshebelievedwasautureullowarareand
destruction.TheAeonIlluminateulflleditsown
prophecy,frstdeendingitselagainstEarthEmpire
incursionsandeventuallywagingall-outwaragainst
theUEFandCybranNation.
WhentheSeraphiminvadedthousandsoyearslater,alargepercentage
otheAeonIlluminatepopulationsidedwiththeSeraphimandormedtheOrderotheIlluminate.TheyoughtagainsttheAeonanditsleader,Princess
RhianneBurke.ThePrincesswaslostwhentheSeraphimweredeeated,
andtheOrderwaseectivelydismantled.However,itsmembersremainedin
thepopulace.
ThenewlyelectedAeonIlluminateleadershipplacatedtheremaining
undamentalistOrdermembersbyrenamingtheactiontoitscommon,
sharedname:TheIlluminate.
WhiletheUEFourished,theIlluminatestruggled.Itsmemberspreviouslyled
anascetic,communalliestyle;theCoalitionimposedaUEF-stylecapitalist
system.ThosewhostruggledpinedorthedayswhenTheWaywasthe
guidingorce.
Multiplesplintergroupsormed
withintheaction,thelargestand
mostinuentialbeingTheRoyal
Guardians.Itsstatedgoalwasto
restorethegloryotheIlluminate
whenitwasledbyPrincessBurke.
Whileitgainedsignifcanttraction,
itwaseventuallyconsumedby
scandal.Themovementwas

TheCybranNationtracesitsbeginningsarback
intoEarthEmpirehistory.In2592,DoctorGusta
Brackman,anunmatchedgeniusincybernetics,
successullytwinedthefrsthuman/AIpair,creating
asymbiont.TheEarthEmpireeectivelyenslavedthe
symbionts,utilizingtheirsuperiorAI-assistedthinking
andabilitytoperormcomplexprocessesquicklyand
efciently,tobolstertheirempire.
Inresponse,Dr.BrackmanormedtheCybranNationwithalarge
complementohissymbiontchildren,andtheythrived.Dr.Brackman
petitionedthenewlycreatedUEFtoreetherestotheSymbionts;they
reusedandsentanoccupyingorce.ItwasmetwithresistancebytheCybranNation,andthefghtorsymbiontreedombegan.
AttheendotheInfniteWar,Dr.Brackmanwasbetrayedbyhisgreatest
creationaQuantumcomputercalledQAIandtheCybranswereorcedto
allywiththeUEFandAeoninalast-ditchattempttodeeattheSeraphim.
TheCybranNationcapturedmany
SeraphimduringtheInfniteWar,and
Dr.Brackmanhasspentthelast25
yearsstudyingthealienraceand
incorporatingitstechnologyand
DNAintohissymbionts.Whileits

DominicrankedextremelyhighinthemilitaryaptitudetestsgiventoallUEF
citizensandjoinedthemilitarywhenheturned18.Aterbasictraining,he
attendedCoalitionCommanderSchoolonAltairII,aormerAeoncoreworld
thathadwelcomedUEFsettlementsatertheCoalitionwasormed.

tograceullyexitthemilitarysotheycanraisetheirchildinamorewelcoming
andopenenvironment.

THE ENGINEER
The Build UI
Clicking any unit with build
capability brings up the Build
interface. From here, you can left-
click on Units and Structures tobuild them. Units are added to the
Build Queue, while structures are
placed within the environment.
There are multiple categories
of buildable items, and these
are separated by tabs on the
Build interface.
For all Factory units, you can
set the queue to Repeat. What this means is that you can queue
unitssay, a Tank, Mobile Artillery, and an Assault Botpress the
Repeat and each unit will be automatically re-added to the queue.
However, each time its re-added to the queue, you have to purchase
the unit. If you do not have the required resources, the unit will be
added to the Queue but in an unpurchased state, represented in red.
When an unpurchased unit is ready to be built, the factory
automatically pauses. To un-pause the factory, you either need to
purchase all unpaid for units (you automatically do this when clicking
the Pause button) or clear the unit or units from the Queue by right-
clicking on the unit(s).

Mobileunitsturnintoblipswhentheyrebeyondyourvisibleradius.Since
theycouldbemoving,youonlyknowwheretheywerelastseen.Structures,
