SCAFFOLDING TUBES CROSS CUT Tubes cut by saw can leave them with sharp edges and cut at angles. Tube should be cut at a right angle and barbs removed. Scaffold tube should be made to EN39 and be galvanised steel. They should have a diameter of 48.3mm and a 3.2mm - 4.0mm wall thickness. Tubes should appear straight visually and not deviate by more than 15mm in any 3m length. MUSHROOM-HEADED This is where the tube has been used as a means of hitting another object. The damaged end must be removed. FLAME CUT Cutting tube with a naked flame not only affects the end of the tube but up to 600mm of the length. BENT Overloaded tube can bend. Tube can be straightened using specialist equipment or cut the damaged section out.
