Scarabeus Legal Status

• Scarabeus is a no profit Association in Livorno (Tuscany)

• Scarabeus is located in Livorno on the sea coast in Tuscany. It is 20 km from Pisa and 100 km from Florence.

• Number of employees: the staff is composed of four people.

• Beginning of activities:

Scarabeus was born in 2000 with the aim to help disadvantaged  social groups.

Scarabeus Main Areas

 Scarabeus provides:

• orienteering, • counselling and • training services.

It organizes educational activities and training paths in favour of adult people and of disadvantaged social groups in a perspective of formazione activities: we have different activities.

 

Scarabeus Activities

We have different activities. We run different courses of

art, ceramic, music, languages and multimedia

aiming to help adult people in maintaining and updating their skills to play a permanent social active role.

Scarabeus Steps

Since 2000 Scarabeus has been working in European projects such as Comenius  and Grundtwig 1 and 2:

o Right to learn (2001-2004) with the aim to reintegrate young adult at risk of social exclusion

o Women and Power (2002-2004) in favour of visually impaired and immigrant women

o Hagiography  in internet (2004-2006) in favour of deaf people

Educational triangle (2002-2004) with the aim to improve the cultural services addressed to people such as Museums, Libraries and Cultural AssociationSelf training and open distance learning (2002-2004) to create self training modules for  immigrantsA new concept of occupational training (2002-2004) to improve young people employmentJoin us (2004 - 2007)  with the aim to create a school for parents in difficulty

Scarabeus Steps

From 2000 to 2006 Scarabeus has run  five Comenius project for the State School "Micali"

In 2001 Scarabeus has run an IT course  for the prisoners in the local prison (Facciamo storie insieme) on behalf of the Province of Livorno.

Scarabeus has collaborated with the Province of Livorno and State Schools for many years. 

Scarabeus and this Project

This year Scarabeus is deeply involved in a new Grundtvig Project 2 "Let's read Together", with Germany and Slovenia as partners.This project started in 2007This Project has the aim to know the culture of other European Countries through  the creation of  reading ClubsScarabeus also has other two Grundtvig projects respectively"European Librariesas education centres for adult learners" and"eSenior ICT and multimedia techniques for adult learners". These twolast projects started in 2008 

Scarabeus:Perspectives for the Future

Scarabeus has the aim to create reading Events at local level.
