    Chapter 1

    Common Races

    1.1 Changeling

Changelings descend from the union betweendoppelgangers and similar creatures and otherraces. They usually feel out of place despitetheir extraordinary ability to blend in, eventhough some of them have cast aside theirshape-shifting powers to live a somewhatnormal life. They are rare in the ScarredLands, and can be found almost anywhere.

whiteBlended Race - DoppelgangerPrimary attribute: Charisma.Primary saves: Reflex, Instinct.

Change Shape: (Daily) you can changeyour appearance (but not your clothing). You keep this shape until you assume anew shape. (Encounter) You can add yourtalent ranks to a Deception check made inrelation with your current appearance.

    1.2 Deryth

This ancient race, created by Golthain, wassundered by the other titans: their bodies aredisjoined in several fragments, each living in adifferent creature. When the proper fragmentsare assembled, a deryth is reconstituted. Thisis extremely rare, and very few have managedto regain their physical form. Reformed derythusually work to reconstruct other of their kin, avoiding civilization as much as they can. After all, they remain titanspawn, and areusually less than welcaome amongst humans orothers.

whitePrimary attribute: Strength.Primary saves: Fortitude, Willpower.

Darkvision: (Constant) you can see incomplete darkness up to 10 meters pertalent rank. This allows you to only see inblack and white. (Daily) You can also toovercome magical darkness, usingIntelligence+Perception+Darkvision as aduration roll.

Giant Hands: (Constant) you can wieldtwo-handed weapons with a single hand.(Daily) If you wield a two-handed weaponwith both hands, you increase by 1 thedamage the weapon deals. Make aStrength+Prowess+Giant Hands as aduration roll.

Spikes: (Encounter) when you aregrappled or grapple a creature, you canmake a Strength+Prowess+Spikes vsFortitude as a melee attack roll. Thetarget takes one wound damage (poison)per success obtained and one debilitationdamage.

1.3 Dwarf, MountainMoutain dwarves form the majority of thedwarf population on Scarn. They are primaliryfound in Ghelspad and Asherak. They tend togather in large communities where they can, orto leave alongside other races otherwise.

Ghelspad: mountain dwarves can be foundin almost any human nations of Ghelspad assmall communities mixed with other races. They are notably one of the primary minorityin northern nations like Albadia or Darakeene.Burok Torn, the city-state of the mountaindwarves, is the last remnant of a powerfulkingdom lost during the Divine War. Here, they face alongside their god Goran the menaceof the calastian empire, and more sinisterthreats from below the Kelder Mountains.

Termana: there are very few mountaindwarves on Termana, and most of them areactually refugees from Ghelspad. A sizeableminority has settled in Crilos, where they tendto live isolated from the world. Termanahosted more mountain dwarves in the past, but most of them were killed during ancientwars, or slowly assimilated to the chardunidwarf empire.

Asherak: mountain dwarves in Asherakmostly comes from the Pharasa Mountains, and inhabit the city-states north to this chain.A few asheraki city-states are actually builtupon ancient dwarven ruins, but the dwarf

race has long declined since, and even a citylike Altanthropolis, built by the dwarves, hostsmore humans than dwarves now.

The Dragon Lands: a powerful dwarvenempire existed long ago on the Dragon Lands, yet has been utterly destroyed in an unknownevents. Dwarves of any kind are unknown onthat continent.

Fenrilik: a few families of mountaindwarves live in Fenrilik. As opposed to otherraces, most of them were there before theDivine War. Dwarves in Fenrilik tend togather in caves near natural warm watersources, though most of them are too small tohold a large community.

whitePrimary attribute: Strength.Primary saves: Fortitude, Willpower.

Darkvision: (Constant) you can see incomplete darkness up to 10 meters pertalent rank. This allows you to only see inblack and white. (Daily) You can also toovercome magical darkness, usingIntelligence+Perception+Darkvision as aduration roll.

Stability: (Encounter) when an attackforces you to move while you are incontact with earth or stone, you cancancel that movement. (Daily) When youare targeted by an attack while in contactwith earth or stone, you can gain a bonuson all your saves against that attack equalto your talent ranks.

Stonecunning: (Encounter) you can rolltwice any skill check made in relation withstone (Game Master approval required),with a bonus equal to your talent ranks.

1.4 Elf, HalfHalf-elves are born from the union of elves andhumans, or other half-elves. They are not anuncommon sight, even though they have noreal community to belong to.

Ghelspad: half-elves can be foundthroughout all the continent. Most of themdescend from wood elves, as these form themajority of the continents elves. In the southand in coastal regions, a certain number ofhalf-elves are actually from a forsaken elforigin, as those are in constant struggle torenew their dying race. Drendali do notinteract with humans, so half-drendali areunheard of.

Termana: the number of half-elves inTermana has greatly increased since the DivineWar, as the forsaken elves breed half-elves tostrengthen their race, even kidnapping humansto this effect. In elven countries, most

half-elves are consider as servants, as they areconsidered as disgraceful offsprings. In humancountries, half-elves suffer a similar fate, asthey are seen as the children of rape andviolence.

Asherak: half-elves are quite common onalmost all Asherak, and the half-elf communityis almost half as big as the elfs. Half-elvescompose notably almost one half of thepopulation of the Khaelean Confederation, agathering of Tanil-worshipping city-state, andtheir number is still increasing. Most asherakihalf-elves are of wood elf origin, yet a fewdescend from the nomadic wrack elves.

The Dragon Lands: half-elves were rare inthat continent, as the wood elf clans remainedfor a very long time isolated from the otherraces. This changed since the Divine War, anda few elven clans have initiated contacts withhuman, slowly (but surely) increasing thehalf-elf population on that continent. Allhalf-elves from the Dragon Lands are from awood elf origin.

Fenrilik: there are almost no half-elves onFenrilik, as most of those who came here afterthe Divine War died because of the very coldweather. The only few remaining are of woodelf origin.

whitePrimary attribute: none.Primary saves: Reflex, Instinct.Special: choose one racial talent from any

other elf subrace or a human racial talent asyour third racial talent.

Acute Senses: (Constant) you see inlow-light conditions without penalties.(Encounter) You can roll twice anyPerception check, with a bonus equal toyour talent ranks.

Adaptation: (Daily) during a rest, youcan move skill ranks from one skill toanother one. You can move as many ranksas you wish, as long as the final rank inthe increased skill does not exceed yourtalent ranks. You must move skill pointsbetween skills depending on the sameattribute.

    1.5 Elf, Wood

Wood elves are the most common elves onScarn. They are mostly found in Ghelspad andthe Dragon Lands, but some of them still
