Getting to know Word 2007 Level 1
Working with file documents
Save and Save As are commands to store your work
You can adjust settings so that Word defaults to the choices for saving your documents.
Click click - Prepare –before you save the document. The Prepare menu provides commands that enhance the privacy, security, and authenticity of your document.
Most folders are prepared and saved in -

Name your document - File Name - ……………………………. Click - Save
To save your document for people who have word but not word 2007
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Save As. Click down arrow Click Word 97-2003 Format. Type a name for the document, and then click Save.
Saving to PDF seals your document
PDF files are viewable and printable on virtually any platform, including Windows®, Mac OS, and mobile platforms such as Android

HELP MENU
Top right on the menu bar is the help sign. ?
Double click the help icon – the dialogue box - Word Help - opens
In the search box you can ask for specific help.

Click on the magnifier
Some ideas to help solve your question will appear.

Set up - Right click on the main menu Main menu
Right click on the main menu, here you can customize
Highlight your choice and click the Add arrow to add and the remove arrow to remove commands to be inserted into the quick menu bar. Click OK and the icon will appear

The selction on the left side, if clicked with left mouse click, will open up more selections.
You can also hide the ribbon click Minimize the ribbon
Bring the ribbon into place again - Right click in menu area and select Minimize the ribbon
Check all possibilities as these quick tools. You can increase speed and ease of use
Main menu tab keys need to be selected to open up many more commands
ie: insert check out all the new choices – each of these tabs gives more choices
The home tab shows the basics tools of a text document
Applying Styles
These up and down arrows give more style choices if clicked

Try highlighting the whole documentby selecting all.

ClickSelect Click Select all
Once your whole Document is selected scan your way through the styles available. You will see your document change.
Styles - you can adjust your whole document – Text Styles spacing - Headings etc....
Headings are in a font that contrasts with body text.
Paragraphs are separated with just enough white space.
Elements such as bulleted lists are indented.
Emphasized text is in a contrasting colour.
The body text of your document is automatically formatted with the Normal Quick Style.
The Quick Styles that you see in the gallery of styles are designed to work together. For example, the Heading 2 Quick Style is designed to look subordinate to the Heading 1 Quick Style.

More styles can be used seleting this down arrow. colours gives an avalanche of colour choices.
SPELLING DEFAULT
Word Automatically checks your spelling and grammar errors. Wavey lines appear under your text.
Blue line - indicates contextual spellng errors Such at Deer and not Dear at the beginning of a letter.
Redline - indicates misspelling
Green line - indicates grammar error When one of these colour lines appears under your text - right click the word Choices appear for the correct spelling - or ignore. This by passes the incorrectly spelt word.
If the line does not appear when you know you have an incorrect spelling.

Inseting Tables – Images and drawn objects
Tables – Click insert tab – clcik table down arrowSelect how many rows coulumns needed – left clickTable appears on your document.
Insert picture Double click picture icon
Filing system appears, this is where you double click or insert.

Click through your file till you locate your picture.
Select your picture/object by highlighting – double click or insert, will insert your object to the position of your cursor.

You can change your document with any one of these slections by selecting all and then selecting the change of format ie: column – margin size or theme
