Interacting versus Reacting |The Secrets to Classroom Engagement
Presented by: Nicole Chase and Claire Elsey
ELC - 103 Interacting versus Reacting: The Secrets to Classroom Engagement emphasizes that student behavior is a
response to environment. Teachers have the power to develop and maintain rapport with students
through the three C’s of engagement: Care, Control, and Consistency. When students take ownership for
the three C’s within the classroom, trust is built mutually- student to teacher, and student to student. The
three C’s set the foundation for high expectations and efficient routines.
