President: Maleny Show Society

Welcome one & all to the 2018 Maleny Agricultural Show! After our record breaking 80th Show last year, we are hoping to build on its success, and continue to bring you value for money entertainment, information and enjoyment at our two day Show on Friday June 1st and Saturday 2nd. Our Show Dance will be held on Saturday 19th May. This year we are hosting a new Junior Personalityof the Show section, where the littlies of your family can come & join the Showgirls & Rural Ambassadors. Our Shopping Spree on us campaign returns again and gives patrons the chance to win $500-$1,000each Show day in shopping vouchers to spend at local businesses who are sponsors of our Show.

Our much-loved Small Farmers Tent has great free events and education for the whole family to get involved in, and hopefully take home some inspiration to help make agriculture a bigger part of your life. Our Main Arena Horse programme will be a thrill to watch, with some of our competitors including QLD, Australian and Olympic Champions. Dairy, Beef, Poultry, Pigeons and Main Pavilion displays are a must to see, along with Woodchops all day Saturday, Fireworks Friday night and our Rodeo on Saturday evening. Entertainers not seen before in Maleny will provide new entertainment highlights, so we hope you will enjoy the variety we have planned. 2018 marks 96 years of service to the community by the Maleny Show Society, and special thanks must go to our hard working, dedicated volunteers, grounds sta and Executive Committee who work tirelessly throughout the year to make the Show a success. Also, a huge thank you to our Sponsors and Working Partners: without their support our Show simply would not get o the ground. I hope that all of our show patrons and members will demonstrate their support, in return, by shopping local wherever they can. It’s been a challenging year for us here at the Showgrounds, but we continue to strive for excellence in all we do, so we can oer our grounds to all of the community to use and enjoy. We welcome volunteers at show time and throughout the year and invite you to get involved and be part of our wonderful community."

Here at Maleny Show Society we look forward to the future of the

Queensland Miss Showgirl Award: It is the opportunity of a lifetime

for young Queensland women. Come onboard in 2018, meet inspiring young women and enjoy an incredible journey!

The Miss Showgirl Awards seek young Queensland ladies to representQueensland Shows for 12 months. The role encourages and promotes the Agricultural Show Movement to Queensland youth.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?Every young woman who meets the age criteria. Entrants are selected for their knowledge, presentation and passion for the Agricultural Show Movement, and their community. The competition is no beauty contest, nor is it an intelligence test: It is an Award presented to young Queenslanders who raise the prole of Queensland Shows.

WHY GET INVOLVED?The Award provides an opportunity to excel in leadership, community involvement, key management and condence. It is also a fantastic social experience where you'll meet inspiring young women and locals, and have the chance to represent your town &/or region. For many years there have been greater than 600 entrants state-wide, making it the largest competition of its kind in QLD. Oh, and did we mention there's also a host of prizes to be won?

The experience has strengthened my passion for our unique shows, given me ideas to further engage the younger generations in the show movement and opened up opportunities to implement these ideas. The whole experience has enriched my life and given me valuable personal and professional development opportunities, which have already proven benecial. Through the Showgirl Awards I've met like-minded young women, some of whom have become great friends. I'm excited to now be working alongside them to ensure the continued success of our Queensland Shows." Jane Lillingstone, Near North Coast Showgirl State Finalist 2013 (Maleny)
