Introduction to Chi Institute Certified Small Animal Acupuncture C.E. ProgramThis 130-hour C.E. program is presented in 4 sessions over a period of 6 months, offered only to licensed veterinarians. Students will learn acupuncture points on dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. The program includes 40 hours lab (30%). A lab instructor with a lab animal is assigned to each group, usually consisting

of 4-5 students, in order to provide each student individual attention and more hands-on experience. This well-designed class is coming to you. We hope that you will enjoy this great opportunity.

Dr. Xie received his DVM at the Sichuan Col-lege of Veterinary Medicine in China in 1983. In 1988, he received his Master of Science in Veterinary Acupuncture. From 1988 to 1994, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor in the Beijing Agricultural University College of Vet-erinary Medicine. In 1999, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida for his investiga-tion of the mechanisms of pain control in horses

by using acupuncture. He is the Director of Veterinary Acupuncture Internship Program at the Veterinary Medical Center of the University of Florida. Dr. Xie has lectured on veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine nationally and internationally, and is the author of 10 books andover100scientificpapersonTCVM.

Other Major Speakers Cheryl Schwartz, DVM, CVA

Dr. Schwartz graduated from Washington State Veterinary School in 1978 and has been practic-ing holistic veterinary medicine for more than 25 years. She is one of the original members of the AHVMA. She specializes in acupuncture, herbs and nutrition. She teaches herbology and vet-erinary acupuncture accreditation courses world-

wide, and is a frequent lecturer for humane societies and private animal training groups. Dr. Schwartz is the author of two books: “Four Paws, Five Directions” and “Natural Healing for Dogs and Cats from A-Z”.

Roger Clemmons, DVM, Ph. D, CVA Dr. Clemmons received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 and Ph.D in 1979, both from Washington State University. He is an Associate Professor of Neurology & Neurosurgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida,andisacertifiedVeterinaryAcupunctur-ist as well. He integrates veterinary acupuncture, herbal medicine and nutrition into his practice.

Madeline Yamate, DVM, CVA, MBADr. Yamate received her BA from Amherst Col-lege in 1982, MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Gradu-ate School of Management at Northwestern Uni-versity in 1991, and DVM from the University ofCalifornia,Davis, in2005.She is certified inveterinary acupuncture, veterinary herbology and veterinary Tui-na by the Chi Institute and China

National Society of TCVM. From 2006-2007 she was an acupuncture intern at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Yamate has lectured on Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine and TCVM nationally and is a lecturer and teaching assistant at the Chi Institute. Currently, Dr. Yamate is the Marketing Director for the American Jour-nal of TCVM and an associate veterinarian at the Integrative Veterinary Center in CA.
