Nursing Schools Almanac

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare 

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2017.

Gettysburg College is offering a STEM scholarship program for students interested in STEM fields (Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics). STEM Scholars will have their full demonstrated financial need met for all four years with no loans, and have the opportunity to:

Attend a STEM-focused pre-orientation workshop with other STEM Scholars.

Enroll in an exclusive First-Year Seminar taught by STEM faculty.

Participate in bi-monthly luncheons with STEM faculty and a variety of learning activities on and off campus.

Take advantage of various STEM offerings, including faculty-student research, peer-mentoring, preferential residence in Gettysburg College's Science House, and internship opportunities with industrial partners.

Our deadline for Regular Decision admission (using the Common Application) is January 15, and students should file both the CSS Financial Aid Profile and FAFSA by January 15.

CRITERION TWO: A student must have a minimum combined score of 1360 (math and verbal ONLY) on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) at one test administration; OR a minimum combined score of 1360 on the critical reading and mathematical reasoning skills sections of the SAT Reasoning Test at one test administration; OR a composite score of 31 at one test administration on the American College Test (ACT).

CRITERION THREE: A student has a non-weighted, cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale, where A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, and D = 1 in core courses.

CRITERION FOUR: Registered to vote if a United States citizen and 18 years of age on or before January 31, 2017.

CRITERION FIVE: A student shows evidence of self-esteem and concern for others in day-to-day activities.

DOCUMENTATION: A letter of reference (attached to application) from an adult outside the school or family. The writer

should fully identify him/herself. Reference letter should be one page only.

CRITERION SIX: A student has participated in at least three (3) different competitive interscholastic activities (e.g., athletics, music and literary events, fairs, and exhibits).

CRITERION SEVEN: A student has been appointed by school official or elected to positions of leadership in a minimum of two (2) different organizations sponsored by the school.

List of at least two (2) different leadership positions held, including the dates of

service.

CRITERION EIGHT: A student has shown evidence of leadership in a minimum of two (2) different organizations outside the school, including being appointed by an organization sponsor or elected to a position of leadership or role of responsibility in a minimum of one (1) of these activities. Note: This does not include paid positions.
