- 1 - SCHOOL BOARD MEETING Monday, May 24, 2021 The School Board of the Sioux Falls School District 49-5 of Minnehaha County, South Dakota, was called into regular session, pursuant to due notice, on Monday, May 24, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. in the Instructional Planning Center, 201 East 38 th Street, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the following members present: Nan Baker (attended via telephone), Kate Parker, Todd Thoelke, and Vice President Carly R. Reiter. Absent: President Cynthia Mickelson. Dr. Jane Stavem, Superintendent of Schools, and Todd Vik, Business Manager, were also present. * * * * * DeeAnn Konrad, Community Relations Supervisor, presented a report in recognition of all the 2021 retirees and the staff members who have been employed 25 years in the Sioux Falls School District. Action 38878 A motion was made by Kate Parker and seconded by Todd Thoelke, four (4) votes “yes” on roll call, approving the minutes of a meeting held May 10, 2021, which were furnished to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for publication, in unapproved form, all in accordance with SDCL §13-8-35. A motion was made by Kate Parker and seconded by Todd Thoelke, four (4) votes “yes” on roll call, approving the minutes of a meeting held May 10, 2021, which were furnished to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for publication, in unapproved form, all in accordance with SDCL §13-8-35.

Reiter, three (3) votes “yes” and one (1) abstention (Kate Parker abstained) on roll call, to acknowledge the reading of totals by Vote Center (see Action 38614, adopted 6-8-2020) and; Acknowledging the canvass of the results of the school board race of the Sioux Falls School District Annual Election held on May 18, 2021 for two (2) three-year terms for Office of Member of the School Board with the results (see MRF #18661 for complete tabulation of votes), as follows: Two (2) three-year terms: Candidate Votes Cast % of Votes Marc Murren 3,522 30.7% Anthony Pizer 2,120 18.5% Paulette Ludens 1,661 14.5% Kate Parker 2,322 20.2% Cory Begley 1,847 16.1% And declaring Marc Murren and Kate Parker as a duly elected Members of the School Board, for terms of three (3) years, commencing with the Annual Meeting to be held on July 12, 2021.
