Message from the Principal
Hi Everyone
IMPORTANT REMINDER - Student Free day -
Monday 12th November
Next Monday 12th November all our teaching
staff and aides will be attending a network pro-
fessional learning opportunity focussed on writ-
ing with an acclaimed presenter Dr Misty Adoni-
ou. This day will be shared with a number of
schools from our network as we focus on “Using
quality children’s Literature for teaching read-
ing and writing”. This is a wonderful opportuni-
ty that came about late in the year. This stu-
dent free day replaces the day we had sched-
uled in December and was approved with the
support of School Council.
Lilydale Network Schools focus on Writing
Last Wednesday 31st October teachers from
across our Lilydale network schools joined to-
gether after school at a range of different
school locations for a shared professional learn-
ing opportunity focussing on the moderation of
writing. This task involved teachers from a
range of schools, who teach the same grade lev-
el, assessing a range of pieces of writing against
the curriculum and 6 +1 traits of writing. This
process assists with creating consistent stand-
ards of assessment both within and across
schools, so that regardless of which class or
school your child is at your child’s writing is as-
sessed at a similar standard.

From the Office Bike Shed
Parents and children, please be aware that the Bike Shed is NOT locked overnight or over the weekend. If you need to leave your bike at school, please ask your classroom teacher or contact the office so it can be safely
stowed.
Bikes left overnight or on the weekend are often stolen or vandalized—leave
it there at your own risk.
Remember: Student Free Day—12th November
At Montrose we hosted the Grade 1 teachers from 5 schools who worked collaboratively to assess
writing samples. Collaboration and the sharing of practice across the state school system is extensive
and creates a great education system.
Have a great week ahead!

VALUE OF THE WEEK Creativity
Enthusiasm is doing things with zest and
excitement. It is really looking forward to
something. Enthusiasm comes from having
a positive attitude about the things you do.
You can be enthusiastic about making your
bed, going on a holiday or feeding the dog. It is
being cheerful and giving your best to whatever
you do. Enthusiasm makes boring
things fun!

Canteen News As last Wednesday was Halloween we took the advantage to decorate the canteen with a few decorations. The kids absolutely enjoyed a little bit of Halloween fun.
With swimming on last week, the canteen accommodated some grades with early and late lunch service. For grades that arrived back to school after recess or lunch time we even left the canteen window open for some late counter service.
PURSES FOUND
A few purses have been left at the canteen over the last few weeks. If any of the purses in the photo below belong to you, please collect from the office.
MENU ITEM CHANGE - POPCORN
Please remember that our popcorn is no longer available. We are trying a new line of pop-corn which will be available from this week in both Cheese and Salt & Vinegar flavours at the same price of $1.40.
BUTTER POPCORN CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
At the moment, we can’t get any butter popcorn. We are hoping to have the butter flavour available again soon.
Canteen Volunteer Thank you
A BIG thank you to Denise Gaspers and Glenys Kuffer for helping in the canteen on Wednes-day and to Nicky Thomas, Tracey Moore, Ann Allen for helping on Friday.

You Can Do It The Key for Success in Term 4 is Confidence. The habits of mind that go with the Confidence Key
are: Working independently, Taking risks in your work and Accepting yourself.
Our YCDI Award winners for this week are:
Addison B, 3BM
The worthy recipient for the YCDI award for confidence sprang straight to mind! With her positive attitude and belief in herself she is always at the ready to take up challenge after challenge. A ball of energy she doesn’t let her setbacks define her showing resilience at all times. Live your life this way Addison and you will go far. Congratulations Addison Berry.
Amaya R, FNJ
This Prep J student has come out of her shell so much this year.
She is always happy to work with anyone and nothing wipes the smile off her face.
She started school getting upset separating from Mum and now she confidently walks into the room ready for whatever may come her way.
Amaya you have come so far this year trying your best in all you dot you should be so proud of yourself.
Keep up the great work.

They help people every day.
Everyone can rely on them.
Their name starts with “W”.
It ends in “ill”.
