WOODLAND INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL WEEKLY NOTES March 22, 2017 The Fang’s reading program 2nd base is due this Friday, March 24th. These must be turned in by Friday to receive the prize for 2nd base. The next Woodland spirit day will be on Friday, March 24th and the theme is “Wear your music teacher’s favorite color”. Mrs. Carpenter’s and Ms. Shimek’s favorite color is purple and Mrs. Been’s favorite color is red. The Intermediate Dodge Ball Tournament will be also be held on Friday, March 24th from 2:50 pm until 4:15 pm in the Woodland gym. Please see the attached flyer for more details. March 27th marks the end of the third quarter and report cards will soon be available. During a two week period of time at the end of each quarter, certain areas of Infinite Campus become inaccessible to par- ents. This allows teachers the opportunity to enter student grades and create the progress reports. The Quarter 3 grading window extends from March 20th through March 31st. You will be able to access your child’s grades beginning March 31st after 3:00 pm. Please call your school office at 920-730-0924 (option 2) with any questions regarding this procedure. Mark your calendars! The 5th & 6th grade bands and the after school choir will be performing on April 11th at 6:30 pm in the Woodland gym. There will also be an art show in the cafeteria before and after the concert. Please come to enjoy some wonderful music and take some time to admire the incredible works of art created by our Woodland students. There will be no school from April 14th through April 23rd. Classes resume on Monday, April 24th. Hap- py Spring break! Save the date! Woodland School picture and paperwork day for the 2017/2018 school year will be held on Monday, August 7th from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Reminder from the office: When planning a vacation or other extended absence, please make sure to notify the Intermediate Office as well as classroom teachers in advance. Your help with this is greatly appreciated! If your child is at school and does not feel well and you receive a phone call, text or email from them, please direct them to the health room in the Main Office. Students will be evaluated by the Health Assistant or an office staff member. We ask that students not contact home on their own without first being evaluated in the health room. For most concerns, 10-15 minutes of rest helps tremendously and the student is able to return to class for the remainder of the day. Our main goal is to help students return to class and continue learning. If their temperature is over 100 degrees or other symptoms dictate, parents will be contacted by the health assistant, office staff, or permission will be given to the student to call. Please take a moment to discuss this process with your student. If you have any questions about this process, please call the Intermediate Office at 920-730-0924, option 2. Thank you!

Attention Parents!!! The Forward Exam is coming up! Here are

a few reminders as we prepare for the Forward Exam. Thank

you in advance for your help!

Testing will take place for all 5th grade and 6th grade classes

during the mornings of the week of April 3rd. Please refrain

from scheduling appointments during the mornings that your

grade level will be testing.

Phones, smartwatches and any other personal electronic de-

vices cannot be used by anyone (students or staff) in the

testing environment. If possible, students should leave them

at home on testing days. Teachers will be asking students to

put any devices in their backpacks during testing.

Please help your children do their best by having them get a

good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.

FORWARD EXAM REMINDERS...

Celebrate Music in Our Schools Month

with the

Big 10 Giveaway at Heid Music

Our school could be a winner of one of 17 awesome priz-es! Just snap a photo that shows what our music program means to you & upload it to the Contest Page. Then get all your friends to vote! The Top 17 schools with the most votes accumulated will each win a prize! The last two years our school took 2nd and 3rd place. We won

$250.00 of music for our classrooms each year.

How it works? Contest Rules Each person voting can vote one time for each picture on the website, per day. So you can go back each day and vote again. You can also post a link on facebook about this contest and get your friends to vote as well. Put on your Facebook pages and send it out to your friends. Let’s work to-gether to take 1st place this year. We have five photos posted already.

What can I do now? Start submitting photos to the Heid Music web page (http://www.heidmusic.com/big10music/). Take pictures of your child and friends practicing their instruments or singing. Be creative! Be serious! Be funny! Let others know what the Woodland music program means to you and your child. Photos can be submitted starting TODAY. The contest runs through the month. You can submit multiple photos. To make it easier for

Woodland voters to identify pictures, please try to use a Wood-land caption under the picture or the Woodland logo in a lower corner of the picture. More news to follow in the next week or two. Start taking those photos!!! Together, we can win this!!!!!

We hope to see you at our Spring Concert so you can hear some of the piec-

es we purchased with the $250.00 prize last year. Put April 11, 2017 on your calendars.

Check out the crazy photo submitted last year. It even ended

up on a billboard sign along the road in Fond Du Lac.

Here is another way to help out our music program at Woodland.

Heid Music will match individuals’ donations of $5.00 or more with Heid Music in-store credit to support their preferred school district mu-sic program. School districts will then receive the cash donations PLUS up to $500.00 per district of in-store credit to use toward products and services.

In short, if you spend money at Heid music during the month of March, they will donate that amount to our district music program. It’s easy. If you need supplies, now is the time to take care of that while helping the music program too!
