With the school year a week old, all of our classes are now settled, including our new kindy class which started full time on Thursday. The school has started the year with 90 students which is an overall growth of one student from the same time at the beginning of 2016. This is below the growth of previous 3 years which has been on average 11 students per year. Evidence shows that this is mostly due to the large numbers of students who left the school or significantly chose to go to other schools due to concerns over WestConnex. We respect the decisions of all parents to choose.

On Tuesday 14 February at 6pm the school will be holding a meet the teacher and parent information evening. We will start in the hall with a brief presentation by Mr Lavitt and then move into classrooms with your child’s classroom teacher. The aim of the evening is for you to get to meet your child’s teacher, see how your teacher has set up the class. How their learning program will be structured and ask questions. It will not be the best opportunity to discuss individual learning progress but it will be very informative. There will be parent interviews on Tuesday 4 April for this purpose.Acknowledging the need for parents to look after their children, Mr Lavitt will look after any children of school age who you wish to bring along. This cannot be extended to younger children as the schools facilities are not sufficient. We hope to see you all there.

On Thursday the schools annual swimming carnival will be held at Col Jones pool, Tempe. Notes are being returned and thank you for this. Please return the note if you haven’t already done so - students will not be allowed in the water at all without this note being returned. The carnival and the walk to it will be earlier this year. Any parents who can help out on the day would be fantastic as this will allow the carnival to run smoothly.

The school library as reported last year has been undergoing some remodelling. The first phase of this has almost been completed and library will be taught this year by Mr Lavitt. This will be on Wednesday’s and will commence next week.
