STUDENT PROFILEPrinz Sindac BSc Business Management

“I chose to study at Queen Mary for academic and personal reasons. Academically, I knew thatthe university was going from strength to strength and I was correct – Queen Mary will now bepart of the Russell Group. I was also attracted by the prospects of gaining a degree from theUniversity of London. Personally, the location of Queen Mary is ideal for me as I live in eastLondon. What’s more, it is located near London’s financial and business districts and is onlytwenty minutes by underground to London’s entertainment life in the West End."

The inter-disciplinary nature of the course has enabled me to develop critical thinking andanalytical skills. This made me view the world differently and also fuelled my interests in politics, sociology and philosophy.

I enjoy meeting new people in different seminars. Working with different people on groupassignments has improved my team-working skills.

I would advise new students not just to work hard but to work smart too. They should also utilisethe opportunities available to be involved in the Queen Mary community. For example, I am aStudent Ambassador, a Student Demonstrator, and a Course Representative. I get to networkwith many wonderful individuals through these roles.

“After completing my school in New Delhi, the first thing on my mind was to find aninstitution that would enhance my futurecareer prospects by providing a practicaland innovative learning experience. For me,the most essential things were the standingof the university on a global level and therank of the business school. It didn’t takeme long to zero in on Queen Mary.

“My first year at Queen Mary has been afantastic experience. The Business Schoolhas totally proved the worth of its highrankings. I have found the modules highlyinnovative and intriguing. In one of mymodules, for example, I learnt about globalbusiness situations not only from a textbookand lectures but by watching Hollywoodmovies. This might sound a bit absurd at first glance, but after going through the whole process, I realised that it’s anextremely practical and intelligent way of learning business.

“All the teachers are highly supportive andtry their level best to elucidate a particulartopic, whether with the help of visualgadgets, in lectures or through extensivediscussion in small seminar groups.

“Apart from the academic front, QueenMary also has a very strong social culture. I joined the Hindu Society and the BusinessSociety, which helped me to socialise withbusiness students from other years and stay in touch with my culture while I’m away from home.”
