Introduction State College of Florida Collegiate School serves students grades 6-12 in a tuition- free public charter school in Bradenton, Florida. SCF Collegiate School opened on the SCF Bradenton campus in 2010. The school is currently at capacity with 540 seats. SCF Collegiate School employs an innovative model that focuses on collegiate readiness and academic coaching in a collaborative environment. SCF Collegiate School academic coaches work in teams to nurture student motivation and independence. SCF Collegiate School’s mission is to guide and mentor student achievement by equipping them to attain a high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree simultaneously upon graduation. Beginning in 6th grade, students at SCF Collegiate School progress in a rigorous academic environment permeated by technology. The program utilizes demanding and innovative initiatives to establish a system that encourages independent learning, preparing students for success in a full-time college schedule beginning their junior year. Qualifications are necessary for students to continue in the junior/senior program on the SCF campus. The criteria includes a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 and college course level requirements as verified with specific scores on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), SAT or ACT exam. All students have access to resources on the State College of Florida campuses, including the SCF Library and Learning Center, chemistry and biology labs, the Academic Resource Center for tutoring and SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center. Dual enrolled students have the same privileges of a college student, including extra-curricular activities, such as clubs. As a charter school student, they have access to team sports at their districted high schools. A generous partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) offers SCF Collegiate School graduates a three-year scholarship to complete their bachelor’s degree. University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee also offers a scholarship opportunity for graduates who are accepted each fall. Every year since its opening, SCF Collegiate School has been graded by Florida Department of Education as an “A” school. It also received the designation of a high-achieving charter school by the Commissioner of Education and a School of Excellence by the FLDOE. The US Department of Education recognized SCF Collegiate School as a Blue Ribbon School in 2016. In 2017, SCFCS was given the distinction as a FLDOE School of Excellence. State College of Florida Collegiate School serves students grades 6-12 in a tuition-free public charter school in Bradenton, Florida. SCF Collegiate School opened on the SCF Bradenton campus in 2010. Community Spanning 893 square miles, the Manatee County School District serves the educational needs of the incorporated cities of Bradenton, Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Palmetto and the Town of Longboat Key, along with unincorporated Manatee County.

Located in one of the state's fastest-growing areas, the district enjoys a diversified economic base with a median household income (in 2014 dollars) of $49,228 (U.S. Census, 2010-14). The district consists of seven high schools, 8 middle schools, 32 elementary schools and 11 charter schools, utilizing mostly a K–5, 6–8, 9–12 grade-level configuration. In 2017, Manatee County had a population of 386k people with a median age of 48.5 and a median household income of $55,268. Established in 1957, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is the region's first and largest public college, serving 11,000 college credit students annually at campuses in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Venice, and online via eLearning opportunities.

SCF is a dynamic college dedicated to meeting the educational and workforce training needs of citizens and businesses in the region. SCF has expanded its mission to include workforce baccalaureate degrees while continuing to focus on highly respected associate degrees that enable graduates to transfer to universities or begin professional careers.

The College is a member of the Association of Florida Colleges, the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the American Association of Community Colleges.

Curriculum and Graduation Requirements The academic program for grades 6 through 10 is organized on a 60-minute, 6-hour daily bell schedule. Six credits per year is the maximum course load. Differentiated instruction and a rigorous curriculum prepare students to be college-ready by 11th grade and sometimes as early as 9th or 10th grade. Qualified 10th grade students are allowed to register for one college course per semester as a dual enrolled student.

Florida High School Graduation Requirements Students need 24 credits for a high school diploma:4 credits in English 4 credits in Mathematics 3 credits in Science 3 credits in Social Science

1 credit in Fine or Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts 1 credit in Physical Education/Health 8 credits in electives

SCFCS Grading Scale

A – Excellent 90–100 4 quality points B – Above average 80–89 3 quality points C – Average 70–79 2 quality points D – Below average 60–69 1 quality point F – Failure 59 or below 0 quality points

Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation The unweighted GPA is based on a 4-point grading scale computed using the quality points listed above. Beginning with grade 9, all subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. A minimum of 24 high school credits and a 2.0 unweighted GPA is required for graduation. Sixty or more college credits are earned when the student completes the requirements for an Associate in Arts degree by the end of 12th grade. Dual enrollment classes are weighted by one point. Grades are recorded on the student transcript high school and college and high school GPA is computed in January and May of each academic school year. The collegiate GPA is calculated at the end of each semester, including summer.

SCFCS Rank SCF Collegiate School graduates have the opportunity to complete two years of college with 60 or more credits by the end of their senior year. Because all students are held to the highest academic standard, SCF Collegiate School does not rank students.
