Dear parents and caregivers SASS Week- They are amazing at FWPS
This week is School Administrative and Support (SASS) Staff Recognition Week, a time to acknowledge and thank the SASS staff working in school offices, in classrooms and the library and maintaining and caring for school grounds and buildings. I would also personally like to acknowledge and thank all our SASS team for the valuable work performed daily and the generous contribution made to the students, staff and community of FWPS. Updated information If any of your details have changed such as phone number or address please contact the school to let us know so we can adjust our system. A sick child can become very distressed if we can’t contact their parent/caregiver. This is even more important now with the changes to NSW Health guidelines and Department of Education requirements to send students home if they show any flu-like symptoms. Tell Them From Me Parent Survey This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Completing this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted over Term 3 and early Term 4. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au. News from the Principal – Genelle Goldfinch

What have 2N been up to?
2N have been busy learning about the States and Territories within Australia. We created a web of connections when summarising what we have read, and boy have we been busy writing. We wrote a letter to Ms Nguyen’s son and addressed a postcard to Ms Denny telling her about our learning. We read Possum Magic and tried iconic Australian foods such as Pavlova and Vegemite. It seems not everybody is a fan of Vegemite.

The Horsley Zone have decided to cancel the remaining rounds of Winter PSSA sport that were set down to be played in Term 3. This is as a result of the updated Practical Guideline for Sport and Physical Activity that was sent out on 17 August, designed to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission in schools. Fairfield West Public School supports the decision based on the health, safety and wellbeing of all of our students and teachers. This means that PSSA training will no longer take place on a Thursday afternoon and students will return to their normal staggered departure time.
