What’s on @WCS

12 December ‘Hide & Seek with a Sheep’ Musical & Thanksgiving Night, 7pm

13 December BBQ @ Wellington Pool Last day of School Semester 2 Reports out.

Welcome parents, carers and friends to the final newsletter of 2017!

In January, December always seems so far away but then in December, we wonder where the year has gone!

Well, I can tell you where this year has gone. It has gone in a constant stream of activity, learning, community, growth and blessing with a few challenges thrown in. It has been a full year, as they all are and we are grateful to God for navigating us through.

Each year in any school, ours being no exception, would not happen without the joint effort of all involved parties.

Staff who care, give and work like Trojans. I could not be more proud of or grateful for the team God has put together here at WCS; both our day-in-day-out team and also the wider team that encompasses members of the broader community and also DCS. Their expertise, heart and commitment are second to none.

Parents who are on board and committed to what it means to partner with us on this educational journey. The buy-in and commitment of the families of WCS, is something we as staff talk about far and wide. It is amazing and truly special.

Students who are learning the curriculum and improving in that sense everyday but who are also learning to make right choices. These students of ours are learning to adapt all the time. They go to a school where students are so often being added to their number and to see the way in which they embrace the new comers and make them feel like they have come home, is a blessing.

A Board who governs, cares and prays is also a blessing as is the throng of friends of WCS who support and encourage.

It takes a village. It really does. And we have a great village.

But the village has a chief, His name is Jesus. This time of year, we are particularly thinking of Him but to be honest there is not a day that has passed this year when I have not thought of Him. For without Him the village is just activity. He brings the purpose, the wisdom, the peace and the increase.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of

Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

It is as much the case today, as it was all those years ago. He does not change and is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Well done on a full and wonderful year WCS! Merry Christmas and a happy and a safe holiday to you and yours.

To God be the glory great things He has done at WCS in 2017!

Meet the Board—Director: Shane Duke

Shane became part of the Christian school family at the beginning of 2015 when his son, Matthew started kindergarten. He has been an association member since this time and was invited to join the Board in August 2016.

Shane has previously owned and managed a cattle and sheep farming enterprise in South Africa, and more recently has worked as a diesel mechanic and in the pest control business here in Dubbo.

Together with his wife Beverley, Shane firmly believes in the vision and values of Christian education and would like to contribute to this vision as he serves on the Board. With God as our main focus, Shane believes that we can meaningfully impact the lives of our students and their families.

Kindergarten have had a tasty week in news time, with students sharing some of their Christmas Traditions. This has included lots of delicious baking!

A huge THANK YOU to DCS Year 12 class of 2017 for their generous gift to WCS (there is a tradition at DCS that the leaving Year 12 give back to DCS a token of their appreciation) — and this year we were a recipient of their generosity! They bought us a couch for our staff room as well as buckets and buckets of Lego!
