Directions for Journal AssignmentsDirections for some sections are
written in ().
Short, discussions, reflections to demos or assignments that students are to record in their composition book that serves as their Science Journal.
Completion is mandatory-students are responsible for getting the entries they missed due to absences.
Journal will be completed and graded by discussed format.

8/26/15Through an Index Card
Purpose: To demonstrate the "impossible"--stretch an ordinary index card and step through it.
Hypothesis:
Materials/Procedures:3 index cards and scissors1. Use the scissors to cut an index card so you can slip through it.Analysis: Trials Observations1 2 3

9/2/15Leak-Proof Bag
Problem: Can you put pencils through a water-filled bag without springing a leak? How many pencils can you fit through a zip-lock plastic bag filled with water?
Hypothesis: (If...then statement)
Materials/Procedures:6 sharpen pencils, 6 zip-lock plastic bags filled 1/2 or 3/4 full of water, 6 participants, water proof area
1. Hold top of plastic bag in one hand and pencil in the other hand.2. Slowly push pencil trough
one side of bag. Continue until the pencil is through the other side. DO NOT push pencils all the way through sides of bag.3. Continue to see how many of the given pencils can spear the bag with no water leaking out.4. Hold bag away from you when all pencils are through bag and when removing the pencils at conclusion of activity.
