Science/Technology/Engineering/Math Magnet School School-Parent-Student Commitment

Commitment Statement:

The Poinciana community is dedicated to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment that enhances the personal development of every member, encouraging each student to become a confident, lifelong learner and a productive responsible citizen. Our Commitment Statement reflects our most important goals. We recognize the important role that parents have in supporting the achievement of those goals for all students. We ask parents to join us as partners by supporting these expectations. Please carefully read the following expectations and requirements before signing this contract and the Confirmation of Acceptance on the reverse side. By accepting admission into the Magnet program, both the student and parent agree to comply with the following terms and conditions.

1. I understand that my child is expected to attend school every day, to be in the classroom seated at their desk no later than 8:00am, preferably by 7:50 am, and to remain throughout the hours of the scheduled school day. Early Dismissals are discouraged and will not be permitted after 1:30pm. A note is required the day following each absence.

2. I understand that after 10 or more unexcused absences, my child may be placed on probation or transferred to their home school.

3. I understand that after 05 tardies or early dismissals, I will receive a phone call or a letter from administration. After 10 tardies or early dismissals, I will be contacted by administration and my child may be placed on probation or transferred to his/her home school.

4. I understand that my child is to conduct himself/herself with teachers/staff, and classmates in a manner showing respect for all persons.

5. I understand that my child is to complete all required assignments, including

homework.

6. I understand that my child is to respect and care for all personal and school property, including but not limited to: text books, equipment and supplies. I understand that I am responsible for all damaged or lost instructional materials.

7. I understand that as a parent/guardian I must be supportive of my child and the school

program by: (a) providing a time and place for my child to study at home, (b) by participating in school meetings, conferences, and other scheduled activities.

If we fail to abide by the terms of this contract, we understand that our child

may be transferred to our home school.
