Nancy Uecker retired recently after 20 years with the Sheriff’s Office. Good luck and we will miss you Nancy!

Matecumbe Historical Trust held a ceremony September 1st to remember those killed during the hurricane that hit Islamorada on Labor Day, 1935 killing hundreds of people.

On the right, the airport received a few new vehicles recently; here are some of the staff on their new Segways and their other electric vehicles they utilize to get around the runways and the terminal.

The Marathon jail would like to thank Deputy Danielle Malone and Tracer for assisting D Watch recently with a narcotics sweep of the facility.

On the left, Deputy Matt O’Neill attended the kickoff event for the Heros 5K run at Hawks Cay Marina. He talked with kids about law enforcement, handing out bike lights and coloring books.

This hard working crew recently removed over 3,400 pounds of debris from around the Big Pine Academy and surrounding wooded areas on Big Pine Key.

Key Largo Rotary held their quarterly clean up of the 105 - 106 mile marker of U.S. One recently, along with members of the Sheriff’s Office that are members of that Rotary chapter.

Sgt. Mike DiGiovanni, the scourge of all graffiti “artists” recently painted this out underneath one of Islamorada’s bridges.

Deputy Matt O’Neill found a bunch of trash dumped and washed ashore at the south end of the Long Key Bridge. He found the time to collect it all and dispose of it properly. The community thanks you, Matt.

Deputy Linda Kohout and her trusty sidekick from the Big Pine Road Prison spend time recently painting out graffiti and cleaning up trash on Loop Road, Sugarloaf Key. Residents sent their thanks, as do the rest of us!

The MARC house will be supplying the paint, brushes and rollers.
