The Scoovy™ is by far the best toy in the world and, with a little practice, we’re pretty sure you’ll agree. Riding any motor-ized vehicle involves some element of risk, and we recom-mend you read the manual thoroughly before attempting

refer to it periodically.

We know that most user manuals end up in junk drawers or

table as a conversation starter or better yet frame it and hang it up on the wall like you do with other important things in your life.

Congratulations on your new Scoovy™

Page 2

There is always some risk involved in learning to ride or drive any motorized vehicle. Please ensure that you

before operating your self-balancing scooter.

Riding 6.2 miles-per-hour may not seem fast (it’s a 9:40-minute mile), but it seems to fall somewhere between a fast jog and a slow sprint. Start slow as you learn how the Scoovy™ responds to your movement.

Attention!

Always check the battery charge before using. Do not ride when battery is low as indicated by a blinking green or solid red light. This may cause the Scoovy™ to stop which can cause you to fall.

Check local laws and regulations before riding. Laws

Follow all applicable laws for vehicles and pedestrians.

Avoid obstacles and slippery surfaces. These may result in a loss of balance or traction, causing you to fall.

Do not exceed the maximum weight of 220 pounds (100 kg) total payload including backpacks and gear. Exceeding this weight limit could injure the rider and damage the Scoovy™.

Young children should not ride the Scoovy™. Self-balancing scoot-ers require coordination, strength, and maturity to use. Only children 13-years and older should be permitted to use and should always be supervised by an adult when riding.

. Do not turn it on in mid-air. This may cause the wheels to spin freely, injuring yourself and damaging the Scoovy™.

Do not modify the Scoovy™safety features and result in serious injury and/or damage.

Always wear a helmet when riding the Scoovy™.

Never operate any vehicle, including the Scoovy™, while under the

Failure to follow these safety guidelines may result in serious injury or death.

The Scoovy™ features a built-in lithium-ion battery pack.

battery should always be charged in a clean, dry location. Follow these simple steps to charge your Scoovy™:

Plug one end of the power cord into the charging port.

Plug the other end into a grounded AC outlet. The red charging light on the power charger will turn on.

A full charge may take up to 2 hours. The light on the power charger will turn green to indicate that the Scoovy™ is fully charged.

Minimum Weight LevelTo operate the Scoovy™, a rider must weigh at least 33 pounds (15 kg). If the rider’s weight is less than 33 pounds the

Battery LevelAn LED indicator shows the battery level. A green light indicates that plenty of power is remaining. A red light means the Scoovy™ should be recharged as soon as possible.

When the power level is lower than 10% the LED indicator

beeping sound while riding to warn you that the power is low.

Battery performance decreases in cold weather, so your total range will be lower on cold days. At 5 degrees Fahrenheit, for instance, total range is half the normal range at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Please check the power level before each use to ensure you have enough power for the return trip.

WARNING: The Scoovy™ will notify you when the battery charge is dangerously low by slowing down and shaking the wheels while riding. If these warnings

the battery is recharged.

wear a helmet for safety.

Set the Scoovy™ on the ground and turn the unit on by pressing the power button.

The Scoovy™ can face either direction while you ride. The

green light on the top of the Scoovy™ will turn on

indicating that it is ready to ride. Put your dominant foot

on the platform, next to the wheel. Use your foot to level

the platform so it is perpendicular to the ground and the

balancing system is activated.

Note: The balancing system is not activated until the

platform is level.

Put some weight on the foot on the Scoovy™ plat-form.

If the platform moves adjust the tilt of your foot until you

are able to put weight on it without the unit moving.

Place your other foot on the Scoovy™ on the platform opposite your strongest foot.

Stand straight up with your head looking ahead (not down at

your feet) and practice holding still to get a feel for how you

can control the motion of the platform by shifting your weight.

Slowly shift your body weight forward to move forward.

Your speed is determined by the amount of weight put

forward. Do not lunge forward.

Shift your weight backward to slow down or stop.

If you continue leaning back after you stop you will travel

backward.

To turn right, slightly tilt your right foot forward. To turn left, slightly tilt your left foot forward.

To rotate, slightly tilt one foot forward and the other foot backward.

powered on, or turn it on in mid-air; this can damage you and the Scoovy™.

Warning: The top speed is 10 kmh or almost 6.5 mph. When you approach the maximum speed the Scoovy™ will try to prevent you from accelerating further by tilting back (caus-ing you to shift your weight backward). You may feel that you are being “pushed” back or that you cannot make it go faster. Do not continue leaning or bending forward in an attempt to increase your speed or you will fall!

surfaces. To prevent a loss of traction you must always be careful when riding and learn to identify and avoid slippery or wet surfaces, loose materials, slopes, potholes and other obstacles.

or terrain.

Store the Scoovy™ in a dry place. If left unused the battery should be charged every two months to maintain longevity of the battery.

The tires are non-pneumatic rubber and do not require

riding, however, to ensure it is free from cracks or foreign objects.

The wheels must be able to grip the ground to keep you upright. When the unit loses traction it can cause the rider to fall, causing injury to the rider.
