This new range of LV inline resin jointing and resin bag products is designed to replace in the entire existing range of products currently outsourced from Mankiewicz in Germany (ex. 3M plant).

The new body design is based on a completely new hinged, one-part joint body that allows resin to be sealed inside the mould without the use of mastic and tape - it does this by using an expanding foam seal. No anymore need for the installer to cut the mould ends to the cable OD. The installation from bottom brings compulsory guide with automatic snap fit and the integration of the CMP system into de body eliminates assembly of different parts. Its piercing system will release the resin once the resin bag is connected on body.

The new resin Scotchcast #40, fully compliant with EU legislation, has hydrophobic property which makes it perfect for a use in presence of water and proposed in bag with a pouring nozzle, which represents, one step less in the preparation process.

6. SALES STRATEGY AND TACTICS

1.- Value Proposition: The 3M Scotchcast 92NBA Series is designed to provide added value for all end users using our current 3M Scotchcast resin joints and for all using products from competition. This new product range requires less time on cable preparation and on the installation. The use of expanding foams to seal the mould around the cable makes the preparation faster and removes the need to cut the mould ends to adapt it to the cable diameter. The installation from bottom brings compulsory guide with automatic snap fit and the integration of the CMP system into de body eliminates assembly of different parts. Its piercing system will release the resin once the resin bag is connected on body. The new resin Scotchcast #40, fully compliant with EU legislation, has hydrophobic property which makes it perfect for a use in presence of water and proposed in bag with a pouring nozzle, which represents, one step less in the preparation process. There is also an element of internal value associated with multi-million investment in Marcallo to in-source this range, specifically around gaining from production economies, flexibility and control of tooling. 2.- Product Positioning & Strategy: With this new range, the aim is to be active in all market tiers and to lead the customers from bottom to top. The lower unit cost will allow us to position with more flexibility the product lines as shown versus the current 3M products.

3.- Competition: There is a wide range of competitive products on the market. The main European competitors are Cellpack in Switzerland and Tyco strongly active in Germany, France and Italy. There are two main solutions. The first one is pretty similar to ours using a mould body with a resin as compound and the second , more recently introduced in Europe based on a re-enterable gel combined with the set of connector. The key competitors remain the same with Cellpack and Tyco promoting with limited success such solution.

Cellpack : Cellpack offers a wide range of product based on a transparent body pretty similar to our current kits. The main difference is on the basic pouring system which is a simple pouring hole and a resin bag composed on an aluminum foil which we can see thru to validate the mixing process before pouring. Despite those negative points, Cellpack remains an important player with a pricing based on a simple cost plus strategy. Tyco : As result of the external grow strategy, Tyco is managing in Europe several companies producing their own resin kit range. The first one is Guro Germany representing the most sophisticated offer integrating an expanding foam seal as well in each extremity of the body. The difference versus our new offer is on the CMP system which is not available on the Guro’s line. The line is pretty complete on kits integrating connector sets.

The second line comes from SIMEL France, belonging to the group. As you can see, the mould body design is close to our current range and limited to kit without connector.

The low end offer below described is visible only in Italy with a tighter range covering the main applications.

More recently introduced in Europe, the integrated solution based on a re-enterable gel combined to the set of connectors. This type of solution is proposed to cover the applications requiring wire sections up to 16mm² and re-enterable kit to re-work the joint after its installation. The main des-advantage for the end-user is on the gel which is sensitive to the temperature and the lack of mechanical protection. The gel remaining soft, the cable can move up and down into the housing which is not safe and reliable.

4.- Sales Strategy: a) Successfully transition existing customers and distributors onto new product range by end December 2009 without loosing any volume or margin on Resin bag and resin kits. b) Develop and implement a sales and marketing plan to increase volume in existing and new market segments by promoting the benefits and consequent value the new range brings. c) Develop market share conversion programs with your main distributors to buy market share and develop more volume business in the un-penetrated countries. d) Promote the upgraded version integrating a set of connector to bring more value on the maintenance markets. e) Prepare the introduction of the other part of the range, branch joint, kit for petrochemical and mining applications using flame retardant and chemical resistant resins as well as the kits using flexible resin. f) Focus on the PU high volume tender business to gain volume on resin bags for Power Utility applications.
