What is a screencast?

A movie that captures the display from acomputer screen along with someone talkingabout what is being shown

Who can create a screencast?Anyone with something to teach or present

Uses of Screencasts

• Tutorials for students and teachers• Video book talks • Fluency practice • Share projects • Explain answers• Demonstrate software features• Read-aloud accommodations

What are your ideas for using Screencasts?

Use the text tool on the e-board to type your idea in the blank space below or use the text chat box in Wimba.

Advantages of Using Screencasts

• Can learn by example

• Learner can see every step of a process in detail

• Learner can pause or rewind to move at own pace

• Creator can explain in detail what is difficult to explain in words (Clear, complete instruction)

• Can mimic a one-on-one classroom experience
