Space Craft Systems is a social enterprise forged in the crucible of post earthquake Christchurch to develop the WikiHouse system in NZ and revolutionise the way we create our built environments.

By playing a leading role in the global open-source WikiHouse project, Space Craft Systems has become a key pilot in the development of a truly remarkable construction system. A system of adaptable design which empowers communities to create, manufacture and assemble high-performance living environments tailored to their specific needs...

The aftermath of the Canterbury earthquakes and the poor quality of New Zealands existing housing stock galvanised us into action and provoked the question:

how do we enable our communities to build a better way?

We are developing a built environment that is stronger, safer and healthier, while also being versatile, sustainable and affordable with buildings that protect occupants, their interests and the environment. Our adaptable structures are designed to last for generations. They can be rapidly and easily modified, repaired or relocated. WikiHouse is an Open Source construction set. The aim is to make it possible for anyone to design, share and download high-performance building and adapt them to their needs. These can then be printed locally and assembled by the community without formal construction skills or tools.

A graduate in architecture, Danny has worked for a range of architecture and multi-disciplinary firms in Sydney & Melbourne. Highlights include lead designer for Green City Masterplan Feasibility Study, Kabul, Afghanistan. Danny also has hands on experience with CNC laser cutting machinery, exploring the possibilities of mass customisation.

Dannys design philosophy is based upon a need to create architectural, landscape and urban solutions that nurture and inspire both the user and surrounding context.

After graduating in 3D/product design, Martin spent periods working in both product and industrial design, followed by 5 years in construction and project management. For the last 18 years hes worked on over 300 innovative and creative projects based around a variety of digital technologies and in a number of countries.

Martin is committed to helping communities create first-class living environments which are not only sustainable but also restorative.
