SE7EN OPENINGMOLLY SANDFORD

There are lots of extreme close ups of instruments and equipment used in the film are unclear and this makes us unsure if they are legitimate research tools or have more sinister uses.

The turning page close ups work well because it shows they are doing lots of research but not entirely conventional research as they are looking into novels for help.

The sound of scratching used throughout the sequence is quite unnerving and it is hard to pinpoint exactly what the noise is although it sounds very similar to screaming or wind which both have very spooky connotations.

The quick cuts suit the music here because it builds the tension as the tension in the music builds too.

The rhythm to the music in the opening scene is also very rhythmic because it beats like a heartbeat.

The colours used in the sequence are quite muted colours such as black, white, grey and brown but there are quick flashes of red used which make the sequence seem more ominous.

Its hard to tell what the shots are so this causes the audience to be nervous.

The shot of the man holding a razor blade comes across as odd because we can see that his hands are not clean and this could tell us he hasn’t been able to wash for a while so he is probably trapped somewhere or in prison.
