•Named for the greenish colour of its fat (not its shell).

•Only adult herbivorous sea turtle (feed on sea grass)

• Lives on coral reefs

• Eats sponges

• Their beautiful shell means they are hunted to make ornaments

• The most abundant sea turtle in the world (but rare in Malaysia).

• Nest in vast numbers - “Arribada”.

• Eats mostly crustaceans, molluscs and jellyfish.
