Newton  Fund  Vietnam  –  Open  calls  

Global  Challenge  Research  Fund  

•  The  GCRF  is  a  £1.5  billion  fund  announced  by  the  UK  Government  to  support  cuVng-­‐edge  research  that  addresses  the  challenges  faced  by  developing  countries  through:  §  challenge-­‐led  disciplinary  and  interdisciplinary  research  §  strengthening  capacity  for  research  and  innova8on  within  both  the  UK  and  developing  countries  

§  providing  an  agile  response  to  emergencies  where  there  is  an  urgent  research  need.  

•  Calls  are  opened  all  year  round  by  UK  delivery  partners.  •  AnGmicrobial  Resistance  in  a  Global  Context  –  A  Cross-­‐Council  call  in

• Aims  to  improve  the  business  climate,  compe88veness  and  opera8on  of  markets,  energy  and  financial  sector  reform,  and  increase  the  ability  of  governments  to  tackle  corrup8on  in  developing  countries.

• Aims  to  help  developing  countries  access  support  to  tackle  climate  change  and  to  move  to  sustainable  economic  growth  through  climate  mi8ga8on  and  adapta8on.
