The word “Sukkot” means “booths,” and refers to the temporary dwellings that we (Jewish people) are commanded to live in during this seven days holiday in memory of the period of wandering.

Sukkot has a dual significance: historical and agricultural. Historically, Sukkot commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert, living in temporary shelters. Agriculturally, Sukkot is a harvest festival.

Fishing and agriculture are two bases in the food system of the city. This reviewed sukkah tries to highlight the link of the agri-food pro-cess with the food itself, even the vending machines one.

The festival of sukkot talks about sharing, caring and enjoying. The consumerist view of this points lead the project to use the leftovers of the industry as the whole of the elements. All them reusable and retor-nable.

Kosher -> proper or correct. Describes food that is permissible to eat under Jewish dietary laws. Can also describe any other ritual object that is fit for use according to Jewish law.

Sechach -> the vegetative covering of a sukkah. It is the representation of the “clouds of glory” which protected the Jewish people while walking through the Sinai desert.

There is a verse in the Torah from which is derived the requirement that the “Sechach” should be applied “actively” and not “passively.” This prin-ciple is called “Ta’Aseh v’lo Min he’Asuy.” Using other words, positive, intentional action on the part of the one who lays the “Sechach” is required, rather than the passive allowing of the arrival of the “Sechach” to occur.
