Restaurant Review If your child has not completed their restaurant review homework, please do so this weekend. We will begin writing reviews next week. If you are unable to get out this weekend, have them complete it on a restaurant experience they have had in the past. These are due on Monday, January 9th.

CAUGHTA PIZZA WINNERS Congratulations to Ava Nue from Mrs. Chambers’ class, Abby Gooden from Ms. Smitka’s class and Abby Vehar from Mrs. Sutter’s class for being our December pizza winners. Keep up the great behavior!

Science We are sti l l learning about Earth’s Land and Water. Ask your child to name some ways that we use water on a daily basis and some ways we can conserve (save) it.

BOOK IT Please send in the December Book It forms so your child can receive a coupon for a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut. The January forms came home before the break.

MAD MINUTE TESTS Please continue to practice those basic addition and subtraction facts at home. The expectation is that 2nd graders have passed all of the addition facts and subtraction facts through 9 by the end of the second trimester (which is the beginning of March). Flashcards are a great tool to help with this! You can buy flashcards or make your own using index cards and the problems from the Mad Minute tests. Knowing basic addition and subtraction facts will help with the more difficult math concepts.

Family Projects January family projects (snowman) were sent home before the break. Please work on this project as a family and enjoy the time together. These projects are not only displayed in the hallway, but they are also put in your child’s 2nd Grade scrapbook. Remember to have fun and be creative!

HOMEWORK Your child brought home their homework packet today. Please make sure your child completes the entire packet and you review it before they turn it in. Make sure their name is on the first page and the packet is stapled. In addition to the homework packet, your child should be reading at least 20 minutes each night. Nightly reading can be the books that come home in their book bag or raz-kids. It is fine to alternate the type of reading.

COLD Weather

PLEASE make sure your child is dressed for the outside weather. It is cold, so have your child wear a winter jacket, gloves, a hat and boots to school. We go outside for recess almost every day. Snow pants and snow boots are needed for children to play in the snow. Placing your child’s snow pants in a separate bag makes things a lot easier for your child to locate their snow pants. Also, please label your child’s snow gear. We have a lot of black snow pants and can’t always tell who they belong to, so please write your child’s name on the tag. Thank you for your help.

Winter Movie Fest Looking for something to do on a cold Friday night? Check out the winter movie fest on Friday, January 13th. The movie playing is Zootopia! It takes place in the Fraser High School auditorium and doors open at 6:30PM. The Movie starts at 7:00PM. Admission is $1 for anyone with a Fraser Public Schools ID. Adults are $3, Kids 6-12 are $1, and kids 5 and under are free. Pop, popcorn, and candy are $1 each.

BEHAVIOR ASSEMBLY On Tuesday, January 10th, we will have an assembly to review the behavior expectations. Our theme is Emojis!! If your child has anything Emoji themed, please have them wear it to school this day…if they don’t, yellow would work well too!
