Your full colour second screen for displaying text,
symbols and Symojis.
What is included

Installation
You will need:Your Grid Pad 12 communication aid.A safe, clean workspace.
To protect the Grid Pad 12 screen from damage, use a soft cloth or towel under your device.
Power off your Grid Pad before you begin.
Step 1
Use the Ph Screwdriver to remove the 2 screws to the left of the Grid Pad’s handle.
Step 2
Place the second screen over the two screw holes and use the provided screws to secure it to your Grid Pad.
Step 3
Plug the second screen USB cable into the USB port on the side of your Grid Pad.
If you are already using this USB port for another accessory, use the USB Hub provided to give you an extra USB port.
Step 4
Power on your Grid Pad and open Grid 3.
Your second screen will be automatically detected.
Positioning
The second screen is mounted on a friction hinge.
This means you can angle it for the best viewing angle.
To tighten the hinge, use the screw driver provided.
Using the screen
The second screen on your Grid Pad will display your sentences as you speak from Grid 3.
You can change how it acts with settings found within your grid sets.
You can also turn the screen on or off from within a grid set.
How the screen works
The second screen reflects what is in your grid set’s chat window.
Grid commands that effect the second screen
Speak as you type
If you set Grid to Speak as
you type, the second screen will display each word as it is entered.
If you toggle Speak as you type to off, the second screen will show three animated dots, to show that you are currently writing. Your message will be displayed when you select Speak.
You can find additional options for Speak as you type in the Grid Settings. You can find these under Menu - Settings - Speech.
Here you can toggle between Sentences, Words, Characters and if speaking should be
enabled whilst using Computer Control.
Second screen
Toggling the second screen cell will turn the screen on or off.
Mute
The second screen will continue to display your messages, even if the volume of the Grid Pad is muted.
This means you can share a quiet message, without broadcasting loud speech.
Symoji
Symoji allows you to quickly communicate emotions, ideas or feelings using an animated character.
When a Symoji is selected, it will appear in the Symoji viewer window, and the Second Screen so you and your communication partner can see the animation.
You can find Symoji as a standalone grid set or in Super Core, Fast Talker and Text Talker.
Safety
Warnings
CompatibilityThis accessory is approved for use with Grid Pad 12 only. If used with other devices it may become damaged or cause damage. If used with other devices it may create undesirable electro magnetic disturbances and interfere with other equipment.
Choking hazardThis accessory is supplied with
small screws that present a choking hazard.
If damaged, small parts may detach. These can present a choking hazard.
DurabilityThis accessory is designed to be tough and rugged but must be handled with care when moving around.
Do not pick the Grid Pad up by the Second Screen.
Repairs and maintenanceNot user serviceable. Please contact your local dealer or Smartbox for repair.
Troubleshooting
In most cases, unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable will resolve any problems.
You may also need to restart Grid 3.
You may also need to restart your device.

Please have your serial number ready. This can be found under the stand on your device.
USB HubWhen using a USB hub, it is important to note you may not be able to run many high power devices simultaneously.
You can run the second screen, simultaneously with a mouse, head mouse, keyboard, thumb drive etc.
High power devices (mainly Hard Drives or SSDs) may crash the hub.
You may need to restart your device.
IncidentsIf a serious incident occurs in relation to the device, please report to Smartbox ([email protected]) and the competent authority of your member state.
Disposal Please dispose of in line with local electronic waste regulations.
