Weightings:
Formal learning will carry a total weighting of 55% distributed as follows:
A pass (50%+)in the Core Subjects is equal to 25%
A pass (50%+) in another subject is equal to 10% for a maximum of 30% which equals to 3 or more subjects
A pass in all 3 Core Subjects are MANDATORY, failure in one or more Core Subjects will automatically lead to an SSC&P Level 0
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR SSC&P PURPOSES THE PASS MARK IS 50%, THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SEC PASS MARKS. THESE
MAY DIFER ACCORDING TO THE DISTRIBUTION CURVE PRODUCED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MALTA.
Non formal Learning (carried out during school hours) will carry a total of 30%
The minimum of 2 Non Formal Activities is still mandatory
This scholastic year all SPMC Form 5 students have two or more non formal activities registered, so all Form 5s attained the 30%.
Informal Learning (carried out after school hours) will carry a total of 15% distributed as follows:
2 or more Informal Forms are equal to 15%
1 Informal is equal to 5%
No Informal is equal to 0% in the Informal Category.
The Directorate has decided that the Informal Learning is no longer mandatory to obtain a level; therefore a student can still
achieve a Level 2 even though he does not attend any Informal Learning.
EXAMPLES:
John Borg 85%+ attendance 2 non formal 2 informal Passes in Core Passes in 3/more subjects= SSC&P Level 2
30% + 15% + 25% + 30% + = 100%
Peter Abela 85%+ attendance 2 non formal 1 informal Passes in Core Only = SSC&P Level 1
30% + 5% + 25% = 60%
Ben Camilleri 85%+ attendance 2 non formal 0 Informal Passes in Core Passes in other 2 subjects = SSC&P Level 2
30% + 0% + 25% + 20% = 75%
Carl Dimech 85%+ attendance 2 non formal 2 informal Fail in ONE Core Subject Passes in all other subjects= SSC&P Level 0
30% + 15% + 0% = 45%
IMPORTANT NOTES:
o This year another column, the Form 2 column will be added. The Form 2 Column will remain empty, no data will be entered.
This will in no way affect your level.
o When the SPMC School Leaving Exam Results will be published on Myschool the SSC&P data will be sent to the Directorate.
We will not accept other Informal Forms afterwards.
o The Directorate will email us a pdf file with each student’s SSC&P Certificate. We will email this to you. You will have THREE
days to contact us if you do not agree with something. Once these three days are over, we will forward amendments (if any)
and confirm printing. Reprints will not be possible, thereafter.
o Please be careful with your certificate, lost certificates will only be replaced with a photocopy. The Directorate informed us
that they will not reprint.
o The SPMC School Leaving Certificate will be issued in the usual manner. Reminder: If a student has dropped any subject
and did not sit for the SLE, this subject will not be listed in the SPMC School Leaving Certificate. Exceptions are only made for
those students who sit for their SEC exams in Form 4(age exemption) and obtain a pass.
o We will keep you informed if the Directorate notifies us of any additional information or changes.
