WOveN tHreADSAll our cotton bed linen is made with 100 per cent long-staple combed cotton.
the range starts with a 320 thread-count percale that many discerning buyers prefer for its crispness, durability and low sheen. the cLASSic style uses a simple satin stitch detail for a clean, modern look, while the LADDer StitcH employs a more traditional decorative technique.
Our 650tc HeMStitcH and 900tc cLASSic cotton sateen uses some of the finest threads that can be commercially spun today, combined in a weave that creates a silky-smooth and shiny finish.
tHreAD cOUNtFor the purposes of comparison, thread counts of fabrics in this catalogue are quoted in threads per 10 square centimetres – 320, 650 and 900.
this is the measure most commonly used now in Australia and New Zealand. internationally, thread count is typically still quoted in threads per square inch, a lower number. Using this measure, Secret river fabrics have counts of 220, 420 and 600 threads per square inch.
that said, thread count alone is not an adequate measure of fabric quality. there are major differences in the type of cotton, and the way it is processed, spun and woven. Fabric finishing is equally important.
