is the Division/Class of the m ajor ar ea of study, either Par t II ( when ther e ar e 2 Par ts) or Par t III ( when ther e ar e 3 Par ts)
Degr ees with a significant r esear ch com ponent m ay be awar ded without classification. T hey ar e usually assessed as 1st or 2nd
D i v i s i o n / C l a s s .
B. 1- year postgr aduate Bachelor Degr ee and a 1- year M aster Degr ee in the sam e field ar e assessed together by guideline 11 or 12.
C. Note that som e Post Graduate Diplo m a pr ogr am s have a high per centage of pr actical subjects.
D . T his guideline also appl ies to M aster Degr ees in education, physical education and libr ar y science wher e a 3- year Bachelor Degr ee is
followed by a 1- year postgr aduate Bachelor Degr ee and a 1 year M aster Degr ee.
E. Specialist Doctor of M edicine ( DM ) and M aster of Sur ger y/Chir ur gie ( M Ch) ar e now usuall y higher awar ds, r equir ing 2- 3 year s of studyfollowing a Doctor of M edicine ( M D) or M aster of Sur ger y ( M S) , or 5 year s following the Bachelor of M edicine and Bachelor of Sur ger y ( M BBS) .
