1.3 DEFINITIONS

A. AC Line-Voltage Motors: A tubular, asynchronous motor, 120-V ac (60 Hz) single-phase motor, with an integral capacitor, and a thermally protected, permanently lubricated and maintenance free gearbox with a torque range lifting capacity from a minimum of 35.4 in-lbf (4 Nm) to a maximum of 885 in-lbf (100 Nm). Motor to fit into a tube with a minimum inside diameter of 1.5 inches (38 mm). Minimum audible noise equal between 38 and 60 dBA in accordance with ISO 3741 NF 31022 in dBA ref. 1pW at nominal torque without end product. Controller to be embedded microprocessor type or bus connection using RJ9/RJ45 (Radio and Digital motors). Standard, mechanical limit-switching motors are available through hardwired or plug-in connections. Manual override is available for ac motors.

B. Autosun™: Solar/battery-powered motor-operator with plug-in option for exterior shade devices, and rolling shutters.

C. CMO: Compact manual-override motor-head style that, in a power loss, allows manual turning of motor head by using a crank handle.

D. DCT: Dry Contact Technology; dry contact (mercury-free) input for basic low-voltage switches via data (communication) cable switching.

E. Exterior Roller-Shade Devices: Exterior, IP-rated, solar, thermal and blackout type shades that roll into a coil and unroll flat.

F. IP Rating: International (or Ingress) Protection Rating is defined by IEC 60529 and classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. The first digit classifies protection against solids (0 to 6) and the second digit (0 to 8) against liquids. The higher the number, the more protected.

G. RA: Rapid Adjustment motor head style. Ability to move between set heights quickly.

H. Radio Technology Tubular Motor: Motor equipped with built-in radio receiver and concealed inside roller tube with Three-wire drive unit inside roller, instantly reversible, and lifetime lubricated.

I. Rolling Shutter Motors: Electrically powered tubular motor integrated into a roll tube, around which the curtain is wound.

J. RT: Radio Technology; wireless radio control of motorized applications.

K. SDN 2.0 is "Somfy" Digital Network version 2.0 of bus distribution devices.



L. Digital Network: RS485 wired, bi-directional, bus control technology; integrated network automation system protocol allowing communication between devices and building management systems (BMS), standalone automation systems, or standalone motor-control systems.

M. Tubular Motor: Motor equipped with disconnect plug concealed in aluminum tube; and connected to drive shaft through a reduction box.

N. Venetian Blinds: External, retractable vertical blinds made from blades/slats that are held in place by side guides or stainless-steel wire guides. They reduce glare and reduce solar heat gain. The blades can be finely adjusted to provide privacy or filtered light as required and can also be fully retracted to allow maximum light to pass through.

O. WireFree™: A battery-powered motor-operator control with plug-in option for awnings, pergolas, exterior roller shades, rolling shutters, and venetian blinds.

P. WT: Wired Technology; control through standard ac (alternating current) or DC (direct current) via power or polarity switching.

Q. ZigBee®: The ZigBee® protocol is a low-powered RF mesh networking technology that uses a 2.4 GHz standard for both residential and commercial applications.

R. Z-Wave®: An interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for both residential and light commercial automation applications. 908.42 MHz in United States and Canada. Varies in other countries.

1.4 PREINSTALLATION MEETINGS

A. Product Data: For each type of product.

1. Include construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and manufacturer recommended installation procedures for exterior sun-control devices.

B. Sustainability Submittals:

4. Structural Calculations: Submit a comprehensive analysis of design loads and thermal movement. Identify moment and shear forces transferred to structure or supports through installation connections.

5. Graphics: Show text message, font, character sizes, and other graphic forms; character, word, and line spacing; margin widths; position of copy; and other information related to graphic design.

D. Samples: For each type, provide the following:

1. One complete exterior sun-control device with required components, mounting and associated hardware, and instructions.

2. Fabricated parts indicating fabrication techniques, joinery, fasteners, and accessories.3. Each different exposed finish color, factory applied on representative aluminum

extrusion.4. Include Samples of graphics[ on fabric] and accessories involving color or finish

selection.

1.6 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS

A. Qualification Data: For manufacturer.

1.7 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

A. Operation and Maintenance Data: For exterior [roller-shade devices] [rolling shutters] [venetian blinds], motor operators, and control systems to include in operation and maintenance manuals.

B. Warranties: For motor-operator and control system manufacturer's executed warranty documentation.

1.8 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Motor operators, controls, and controllers certified by an NRTL to provide UL recognized or listed wired ac and dc powered motors.

1. ISO 9001 certified including in-house engineering and product design activities.2. Controls manufacturer capable of supplying commissioning services for control systems.3. Motor manufacturer capable of supplying a full range of wirefree (12-V dc - battery and

solar powered) direct voltage dc (24-V dc), main or line-voltage (120-V ac) motor and control products.

B. Fabricator Qualifications: Shop that employs skilled workers who custom fabricate products similar to those required for this Project and whose products have a record of successful in-service performance.

C. Installer Qualifications: Trained[ and certified] by manufacturer of motor-operator and control system products.

D. Welding Qualifications: Qualify procedures and personnel in accordance with the following:

1. AWS D1.1/D1.1M, "Structural Welding Code - Steel."2. AWS D1.2/D1.2M, "Structural Welding Code - Aluminum."

E. Certifications: Electric motor operators complying with UL. Provide copy of compliance on request.

F. Mockups: Build mockups of each type of shading assembly specified for evaluation of mounting, appearance, and accessories.

1. Install one complete exterior [roller-shade device] [rolling shutter] [venetian blind] assembly each product type at Project site. Location(s) as specified by Architect.

2. Obtain Architect's approval prior to proceeding with installation of remaining shading assemblies.



3. Approval of mockups does not constitute approval of deviations from the Contract Documents contained in mockups unless Architect specifically approves such deviations in writing.

4. Subject to compliance with requirements, approved mockups may become part of the completed Work if undisturbed at time of Substantial Completion.

1.9 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver shading assemblies when building is enclosed and construction, where assemblies will be installed, is substantially complete.

B. Deliver products in manufacturer's original, unopened, undamaged containers with identification labels intact.

C. Store products in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions, protecting materials and finishes from damage.

1.10 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace shade assembly components that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.

1. Failures include, but are not limited to hardware, metal finishes[, electronic controls, accessories, and motors].

2. Warranty Period:

a. Rack Arm Shading Assembly: Two years from date of Substantial Completion.b. Exterior Venetian Blinds: Two years from date of Substantial Completion.c. Motors and Controls: Five-year limited warranty.

B. Special Warranty for Motor and Control Systems: Fabricator agrees to repair or replace motor and control units that are not free from defects in material and workmanship under normal and proper use within specified full warranty period, not prorated.

1. Warranty Period: Five years from date of manufacture.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. 3.2 INSTALLATION

A. B. Installation of Motors, Controllers and Accessories:

5. Sun, Rain, and Wind Sensor Locations: Mount on exterior in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions.

C. Slip fit frame connections accurately together to form hairline joints, and tighten to secure.

D. Weld frame connections that are not to be left as exposed joints but cannot be shop welded because of shipping size limitations.

a. Use materials and methods that minimize distortion and develop strength and corrosion resistance of base metals.

b. Obtain fusion without undercut or overlap.c. Remove welding flux immediately.d. At exposed connections, finish exposed welds and surfaces smooth and blended so

no roughness shows after finishing and contour of welded surface matches that of adjacent surface.

E. Anchoring to In-Place Construction: Use anchors, fasteners, fittings, hardware, and installation accessories where necessary for securing exterior [roller shades] [rolling shutters] [venetian blinds] to structural support and for properly transferring load to in-place construction.

F. Corrosion Protection: Coat concealed surfaces of aluminum that come in contact with grout, concrete, masonry, wood, or dissimilar metals with a heavy coat of bituminous paint.



G. Coordinate exterior [roller shade] [rolling shutter] [venetian blind] installation with flashing and joint-sealant installation so these materials are installed in sequence and in a manner that prevents exterior moisture from passing through completed exterior wall and roof assemblies.

3.3 ADJUSTING
