By Dayle Davis Sectional Track... on to State On Saturday, May 16, thirty boys teams competed in the Class 1 Sectional 4 track meet, along with twenty-seven girls teams. Overall, Rock Port boys placed nineteenth, while the Rock Port girls got fourth. Rock Port has 5 individuals and 3 relay teams advancing to the MSHSAA Class 1 State Track Championship in Jefferson City on May 22-23. Following are the State qualifying results: Boys: 3200 Meter Run: 1. Jordan Adams, Princeton, 10:44.71; 3. Ty Jones, RP, 10:52.31. Pole Vault: 1. Braden Minter, RP, 12’. Girls: 100 Meter Dash: 1. Bailey Owens, Mercer, 13.83; 4. Madison Taylor, RP, 14.13. 100 Meter Hurdles: 1. Emily Wedlock, MC, 16.41; 2. Megan Stevens, RP, 16.67. 300 Meter Hurdles: 1. Emily Wedlock, MC, 47.28; 5. Megan Stevens, RP, 53.2. 4x100 Meter Relay: 1. Albany, 53.37; 4. Rock Port (Jackie Bradley, Journi Burke, Madison Taylor, Megan Stevens), 53.8. 4x200 Meter Relay: 1. Worth County, 1:51.82; 3. Rock Port (Jackie Bradley, Journi Burke, Cortney LaHue, Madison Taylor), 1:55.67. 4x400 Meter Relay: 1. Mound City, 4:24.17; 4. Rock Port (Megan Stevens, Journi Burke, Cortney LaHue, Jackie Bradley), 4:38.04. Shot Put: 1. Haley Craig, N. Harris, 37’06”; 4. Alexis Baucom, RP, 34’08.5”. Journi Burke, Jackie Bradley, Madison Taylor, and Cortney LaHue put in great teamwork to advance their 4x200 Meter Relay team to State. Megan Stevens, Jackie Bradley, Madison Taylor, and Journi Burke are on their way to State Track in the 4x100 Meter Relay. Braden Minter defies gravity to clear the pole for first place. Alexis Baucom muscles up the strength for a throw of 34’08.5”. Megan Stevens displays great form to put her in second place for the 100 Meter Hurdles. Ty Jones sets a stellar pace in the 3200 Meter Run. He finishing with a new PR of 10:52.31. Madison Taylor turned on her jets to place fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.13. Megan Stevens, Jackie Bradley, Journi Burke and Cortney LaHue finish in fourth place to qualify for State in the 4x400 Meter Relay.
