Ex-STREAM Training for ACS Teachers!
Our teachers have been involved in
some extensive training over the past
few months in preparation for rolling
out our STREAM model of education.
In June, teachers received training in
Interdisciplinary Instruction and
FOSS Science Kit implementation. In
July they attended a 2-day STEM Boot
Camp. August found them spending a
full day with Dr. Ganesh from the
Fulton School of Engineering at ASU,
learning how to integrate the
engineering design process across the
curriculum. Our teachers have been
recognized by the various trainers for
their enthusiastic response to the training and their openness to new methods and strategies for
engaging students in innovative learning opportunities. Throughout this school year the teachers
will participate in follow up training in interdisciplinary instruction and elementary engineering.
That’s what they’ll be doing on early dismissal days when the kids go home at noon. Full STREAM
ahead!
Pictured above: Dr. Ganesh, Fulton School of Engineering, shares his extensive knowledge as an
engineer and an elementary educator. The teachers had fun with some hands-on engineering
challenges and started their own engineering notebooks.
LEFT: 8th grade students learn how to use a
3Doodler. The 3Doodler is the world’s first
and best 3D printing pen that allows you to
draw in 3D by extruding heated plastic fila-
ment that cools almost instantly into a solid,
stable structure Our generous STREAM
donor has gifted the school with a set of 12
3Doodlers.
RIGHT: Third grade students learned to think scien-
tifically and practiced working as a team by solving
the challenge: How can you walk on air? They used
their engineering notebooks to record their designs
and results.

on basic skills, serving technique,
game rules and team etiquette at
a special camp hosted by Coach
Hawkins and Coach Carter.
Experienced players and those
new to the game worked together
and had a great time team
building and bonding. Special
thanks to the Desert Foothills
