Welcome to the 20th year of Open Up2018 looks set to be a very exciting year for Open Up Sheffield, with possibly the highest number of artists yet. Many of these are new to the event, and there are some interesting new venues too. We hope you will enjoy visiting artists in their studios, and finding out about the huge amount of creativity that happens in Sheffield and surrounding areas. Be inspired, sign up for a workshop, commission a piece of artwork, or just chat with the artist.
I would like to give huge thanks to the Open Up committee, all practising artists and craftspeople, who give up lots of time voluntarily, to make this event such a success every year.

Visitor informationC = commission T = Tuition ) = disabled accessPlease check before visiting:• the opening dates and times of the studios, as some artists are not participating on all
five days of the event.• whether your chosen studio offers disabled access, if you need it, as some
unfortunately can’t.Individual artists may have artwork for sale but some do not have card payment facilities, so please take along cash, or a cheque-book, as you never know what you might find!
Many of our artists welcome enquiries about commissions (C) and tuition (T) at any time throughout the year; simply use the contact details provided.

We are celebrating the wonderful work of our featured artist, Anna-Mercedes Wear, famed for her fantastic foxes, and for her mission to encourage others to be creative and to make art accessible.
Anna has always inspired confidence in others. She continues to encourage them to explore their inner artist, to have fun, make mistakes and most of all be positive.
‘Making art isn’t only about intellectual ability, it is also about finding another language, playing, referencing other artists, life and loves.’
Anna-Mercedes is a much loved Sheffield artist, and very valued member of the Open Up team. Sadly, she has inoperable cancer. A JustGiving page has been set up, to help Anna spend creative time with her family and friends, and we hope you can donate something to support her.
