• See the Year 1 Overview for a detailed breakdown of the maths curriculum. The standard has been raised with the new curriculum, e.g. fractions now include quarters in Year One.

• We will be counting daily, forwards and backwards from any number up to 100. We will start up to 30 initially.

• Use number lines to help your child with addition and subtraction. Count the jumps.

• Use number squares for adding and subtracting onto larger numbers. Move down/up for 10s, with diagonals for 9 & 11.

• We use cubes, number beads and Numicon to represent number.

• It is useful if you can practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s at home.
